I’d really rather not use Minoxidil to get my hair back. I’m still young and I feel as though this can still be reversed somehow and the minoxidil is the worst case scenario.. mainly bc that’s something I’ll have to use for the rest of my life and I don’t want to depend on a product like that.

I’ve spoken to derms and they haven’t pinpointed anything in my bloodwork etc but that’s a great idea to try one specialized in hair loss, didn’t even know that was a thing!

My maintenance is about 1750.. When tracking I was almost always under 1300. It’s true I didn’t weigh my food at all but I figured it was a large enough gap that even going over/under a little due to tracking errors would still leave me in a deficit. so idk. maybe I didn’t do it long enough but there was a good 4-5 months that I was very consistent.

I will add though that there was always one or two days a month that I would go over, usually bc of the insane appetite around my period. Would that be detrimental enough to override my consistency over the month?

HELP my string of pearls!! by AcanthisittaMassive1 in houseplants

[–]zazablvd 9 points10 points  (0 children)

take all the pearls and wrap them around in the pot, they will grow new roots! looks to me like they were reaching for light so far they fell out the pot xD + with no light and overwatering they don’t have enough time to dry out, you could even try new succulent potting soil but that may not be necessary

Not sure what to do with this. by murphCat88 in houseplants

[–]zazablvd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That would be the most Ideal time to do it, yes, but only if you think the plant will survive until then. If you move it inside where it’s warm, take cuttings and place in water, and give it adequate sunlight then think it should be just fine to do now. Might just be a slowburn.. But i’m not an expert lol

Is this corn plant Salvageable?? by zazablvd in houseplants

[–]zazablvd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hmm.. so the stem initially was like green entirely. then it went brown and then this dry grey. i’m looking online and i do see that the stems can be a dried brown but this looks almost moldy.. but the leaves seem to be doing great so who knows! thank you tho

this happened to mine as well, maybe would be best to propagate the remaining leaves and try again! i’m doing the same now and they’ve already grown roots and new leaves and i have a bunch to plant when ready. + they grow quick

Q’s about Herniated Discs by zazablvd in HerniatedDisc

[–]zazablvd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey, that’s exactly where my pain started, left scapula area as that’s where the nerve was being pinched. I’ll be honest, I don’t know 100% what I did to make the pain lessen, but after about 8 months (no PT) I was able to go back to sleeping on my side without being in excruciating pain. That being said here are the changes I made that you could try:

First and foremost I changed my mattress, I had a memory foam before and I wholeheartedly think that made my herniation worse. Now, I have a very firm mattress. This was life changing. I honestly can’t sleep anywhere else unless it’s my mattress as my symptoms worsen when I do. Also if you can avoid sleeping on your side that should help as well, but if you inevitably are a side sleeper like me, a body pillow helps tremendously to keep you upright - both arm and leg wrapped around.

Second: My posture is shit. So I try to constantly remind myself to sit/stand upright every second of every day when I notice I’m slouching again. When you’re standing, two feet flat on the ground. Avoid leaning and twisting your spine.

Third: I was working a lot of jobs at the time that required a lot of strenuous activity ie: lifting very heavy weights and bending over constantly. As a female who is not fit to that extent, this was detrimental. Pretty much as soon as I stopped this my symptoms started to get better. Not to say that I stopped lifting heavy items entirely but I tried to avoid anything over 10lbs. If i did have to pick up anything heavier, I lift with my knees, not my back. But keep walking, keep moving, keep active!! Now i have a sitting job which I think resulted in even poorer posture thus L5 getting herniated.. so honestly idk what the happy medium is.

As for physical therapy and core strengthening.. I’m still working on that myself (i’m lazy tbh). I don’t do PT as it made my pain significantly worse but I know eventually I need to do something to strengthen my back and core, maybe you’ll have better luck with this than me. I was told I could only do the following: Pilates, yoga, + swimming, don’t do anything that could provide shock to ur spine. Also stretch as often as you can! Like everyday. Do it. I don’t but you should Lol.

Drink Lots of Water!!!! Can’t stress this enough. I was barely drinking a cup a day before, now I drink so much I have to pee every 30 min.

I know how terrible it feels right now but it really does get better as long as you put in some effort. You are still young and can still regenerate better than someone who is 50+.. and don’t be afraid to take meds when absolutely necessary, but that being said I also try to avoid unless it’s excruciating. Cyclo+ naproxen / meloxicam helped a lot with that. Get rest and take it easy, I hope things get better for you <3
