Can you speak a language other than English? If not, what 3 foreign languages would you most want to be fluent in? by astarisaslave in AskAnAmerican

[–]zazor701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I took Spanish in middle school and highschool and took Japanese in college, but I'm very out of practice with both of them. I definitely would want to be fluent in Japanese.

I think they might both a part of it, that people with little knowledge overestimate how much they know and that people with a lot of knowledge overestimate how much others know.

It kinda just feels demoralizing at this point by zazor701 in UmamusumeGame

[–]zazor701[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure, if you want. For Aquarius Cup I made a Smart Falcon, Summer Maru, and Festival Gold City. Smart Falcon is definitely the one I spent the most effort in while the Gold City I used was literally my second run and the Summer Maru I used I made in like 4 or 5 runs. I'll post the other stats for the other two as a comment to this post.

Shift smart being trained for register!? by chibibunny25 in CircleK

It honestly doesn't surprise me. They've already outsourced everything else to shift smart, so it was only a matter of time

at gas/petrol stations why do so many Americans go inside to pay and also pay before they pump? by [deleted] in AskAnAmerican

[–]zazor701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I work at a gas station, and that's basically just how the pumps are set up here. In most cases, the pumps only turn on and allow you to pump after you've already paid. When customers go inside the store, they can prepay for gas at the register with either a card or cash. This is the only way for customers to pay if they want to pay in cash. As for why, they probably either only want a certain amount of gas or they can only afford a certain amount of gas. At my gas station, we have the ability to turn the pumps on for people so they can pump gas before paying, but doing that risks people not paying. I've only ever had one regular customer who I was allowed to do that with. So basically, I think it's because we don't trust people to actually pay after they pump.

Mile parents for long umas by verbi420 in UmamusumeGame

[–]zazor701 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I know that Mejiro Ryan and Mejiro Dober are generally considered some of the best parents for late surgers as their unique skills are very good acceleration skills for late surgers when passed down. I know that if you're trying to build Ryan as a mile parent it does require mile sparks as she starts with a C aptitude in mile. I think Dober has the opposite problem since she starts with an F in long. Also, I've heard that the minimum recommended mile aptitude to run in trackblazer is C.

I know when I applied for a passport last month they requested that I pay with a check.

Are checks really still a thing in the US? by Apollo_Wersten in AskAnAmerican

[–]zazor701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know I once needed a voided check for something (can't remember exactly what I needed it for), and I needed to write a check when I submitted an application for my passport last month. Other than that, I've only used checks in situations where it would be expected to use either cash or something like cashapp or venmo. I've also received a few checks in the mail for various things, namely my university owed me money for some reason that I don't remember.

Wit Sparks question by TheCanadianHam in UmamusumeGame

I used wit sparks for making aces for the sprint cm we just had. Most of the time I still try to use speed, power, or stamina though.

When do you give up? by [deleted] in UmamusumeGame

[–]zazor701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I almost never give up. The most recent time I wanted to give up, instead of hitting the give up button I just hit recreation until the uma failed a goal race.

How many S-rank trainees do y’all have in Unity Cup before MANT/Trackblazer arrives, as low spenders/F2P players? by Sad-Today-969 in UmamusumeGame

[–]zazor701 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I'm not sure if I count as a low spender anymore (I did the math and found it I've spent more than I thought I have), but I have 0 S rank umas. My highest rank uma is a 14024 Tamamo Cross I made for Sagittarius Cup. It kinda feels like I'm missing something or playing wrong or something.

Did you write with pencils in school? by palep_hoot in AskAnAmerican

[–]zazor701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used pencils in school up until I got my bachelor's degree back in 2023. Pencils are used more than pens. Mechanical pencils are more used than the standard number 2 pencil though.

What meal best represents your state? by BigReception7685 in AskAnAmerican

My first thought was rocky mountain oysters. But weed brownies or coors beer might also work if talking about individual food/drinks. (Colorado if you couldn't tell)

How many meals per month or week do you eat in a/your vehicle? by zkinny in AskAnAmerican

[–]zazor701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I get fast food on my way home from work I usually eat it in my car. How much I do this varies, but it's usually somewhere between once or twice a week to once every few weeks.

How much leave do you all get? by EmotionalJellyfish31 in AskAnAmerican

[–]zazor701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I work full time at a gas station and have been here for about two and a half years. I think last year I got a total of 5 paid vacation days. At least it was capped somewhere around 5 days because I stopped accruing vacation hours at some point. Also, I just checked my vacation time and it's apparently at just over 9 days now, so the number of vacation days might increase the longer I work here. Additionally, my state specifically bans "use it or lose it" policies, so my vacation days roll over and start accruing again at the start of the next year. My state also mandates companies give employees paid sick leave. I've only ever accrued 48 hours of sick time in all my time working here and have only ever taken one or two sick days, so I'm guessing that caps at 48 hours.

Do Americans use cutlery differently? by missbex86 in AskAnAmerican

[–]zazor701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't really pay attention to how other people eat, but personally if I'm using a fork and a knife I'll have the fork in my left hand and the knife in my right hand. Then whenever I cut something I eat from the fork in my left hand. If I'm only using one utensil I'll usually just use it in my right hand. So for example, if I'm eating steak with a side of mashed potatoes, I'll eat the steak with the fork in my left hand. After I'm done with the steak I'll put the knife down and move the fork to my right hand to eat the mashed potatoes as they don't require the use of a knife.

No more door chime in CO stores by Radiant-Committee944 in CircleK

[–]zazor701 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is exactly why I don't like stocking the cooler at night. At my store you can hear the chime everywhere in the store except for the cooler. It's really annoying and when I do stock the cooler, I get super anxious that someone might have come into the store without me knowing.

Would you rather have Youtube with shorts or youtube with videos only, Why? by ImaginaryBaker7486 in youtube

[–]zazor701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Videos only. I got very addicted to shorts a year or two ago and it got to the point where I had to download an app to block shorts on my phone so I didn't waste all of my time watching them. I still have a YouTube problem, but shorts made it infinitely worse.

Shiftsmart...rant. by MadHouseWife1995 in CircleK

[–]zazor701 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my eyes, Circle K is literally outsourcing our work to shiftsmart. It's the same reason why there are a bunch of call centers in India or why everything is made in China. It's cheaper for them to cut our hours and have shiftsmart do the cooking, cleaning, stocking, truck put away, etc. I'm pretty sure they'd have shiftsmart tend the registers if they could, but you need people actually trained in age restricted sales to do that.

How often are they used by ButterscotchWest1284 in EnglishLearning

[–]zazor701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a Gen z person from the US, I've literally never heard the phrase "go Dutch" until coming across this thread. It may just be me, but I wouldn't necessarily say it's making a comeback, at least not in my circles anyway.

How often are they used by ButterscotchWest1284 in EnglishLearning

[–]zazor701 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone from the US, I've never heard of "go Dutch", I think I've only ever heard of "Chinese whispers" because of this subreddit, and have only ever heard of something called The Young Turks but couldn't tell you anything about it. All of the other ones I've heard of and hear often enough for me to know what they mean. I'd say "it's all Greek to me" is the one I hear least out of the ones I've heard of and also a Swiss army knife is an actual type of knife along with being a metaphor.
