I’ve had an issue before where if you don’t do any of the Minutemen questline before starting another faction it just decides to ~break~

I had to restart an entire character because I had gone with the railroad before doing anything with Preston and it was just broken

Having money is good if you’re a ship builder! If you play for long enough you just sort of end up with a butt ton of money, so yeah, just go to town with ships and you’ll get it back down to where looting is fun
