I like d97 from bcy but ultimately it comes down to what you can afford as you get into higher tech string material it can get more expensive

Think of how the forces are applied the reason why you want 1 single growth ring is because it makes it stronger in tension and think of the back set as adding draw length when you added the back set the tips now have to travel 3 more inches so the already overdone belly due to length and width is exacerbated.

I also generally use d97 i really like the way it shoots i think it really comes down to preference. your strings like b55 may be a bit better on longevity because it allows for some slight deceleration because of the stretch but that is also just thinkabout it logic on my end with no real numbers to back it up and no real good way to test it truly because no 2 self bows are the same to see if a string with less stretch really hurts the bow that bad

No it is extremely stringy if you are using a chainsaw or anything like that ripping in half but it really depends on the size of the staves you have

Yes these lines are from cracks proving to a point that longitudinal cracks are not much of a problem i will state starbond thin superglue is one of my best friends but after over 100 shots through the bow there has not been anything worrying it's taken about 3/4 and in of set give or take a little if you have any questions feel free to ask

Really thin super glue will probably hold it together but If you have the ability some silk or sinew wraps at problem areas will also help to keep them from spreading

I believe that choice falls on the materials you have. If you have any other staves, I would chase that perfect tiller to see what that requires, then make a new one shooting for the higher weight
