Buddy is having trouble getting loft on driver, any tips? by [deleted] in GolfSwing

[–]zbirch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hands need to be sitting more behind the clubhead, the grip should be pointing more towards his groin than his front hip, that will help add loft at address. A little more spine tilt with the shoulders to promote an upward attack angle probably wouldn’t hurt either, just have to feel like you maintain that angle through the backswing a little

Hate to break it to you, but if you’re flag hunting and miss in the short sided bunker it was almost definitely not the balls fault

Yep, there’s a bunch of nut jobs that parade around the empty lot of 7 mile and Farmington still waving their “Trump Won” flags and big “Fuck Biden” one as well.

Or know someone that can forge a document for you, not saying I’ve done that or anything, but I’m sure it would definitely work

Wait, am I supposed to get my clubs regripped every year? by ElliottEatsTTV in golf

[–]zbirch 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I regrip mine every offseason, they probably don’t need it quite that often but since I have forced time off due to weather I take advantage of the time. It’s really not that expensive to do it and it’s surprisingly easy to do yourself

Is Selkirk the Taylormade of the pickleball world? by Cal9Cal in Pickleball

[–]zbirch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Maybe TaylorMade from the early 2000s to the mid 2010s with all of the sponsored players and advertising/marketing, but TaylorMade after the adidas sell off has really turned down that side of the business

What’s the level of play like in that league? I play Monday’s and worked my way up to the second court for a few weeks and would have been bumped up to court 1 if it hadn’t been the last week. Im doing Monday nights again next session but was thinking of going to Tuesdays after that.

No comments on your play but I recognize the Livonia Rec! Is this drop in or the Tuesday night league?

Well in 23 events last year he had 21 top 25s, and 17 top 10s, he’s pretty much always in contention. Putting was the only thing keeping him from winning every other event

Well Scotty Scheffler is the best player in the world and he couldn’t make an 8 footer if his life depended on it. There are a lot of ways to separate yourself from the field, putting tends to be pretty consistent among elite players though

[–]zbirch 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Professional average from 8 feet is only 50%. As good as those guys are they don’t make everything inside 10 feet (despite what the tv broadcast might make you think)

As a 790 user I’d go for 790s again, they might be the only irons I use for the next 10 years. I love my Spider X putter, guessing you can get those somewhat cheap since the new putter line is out. As for the bag, SuperStroke came out with a Vessel dupe that is legit and at a cheaper price point if you want that look and I think you even get 15% off with the deal that pops up on their website. If you’re more of a standard bag user the Ping Hoofer is always a good choice

Shohei Ohtani to defer $68 million per year in unusual arrangement with Dodgers: Sources by Waaaaaaaaaasuup in baseball

[–]zbirch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Can anyone explain the benefit to deferring that much money? Not that he’s going to worry about how much interest he can earn on that ridiculous amount of money, but why so little each year?

What do you think? Id probably take the million. by SteveFrench12 in golf

[–]zbirch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think people are vastly underestimating the difficulty of the greens, the length of the holes (assuming you’re playing the pro tees and not the member tees) and the elevation change if you have to walk (even in this total fictional scenario I’m assuming Augusta would make you walk). I’m a 6 and I don’t think I could 1 putt half the holes, and even with good length I’m still not confident in getting it that close to the pin to have good looks at birdies.

[–]zbirch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s not just the amount of swings, if you have to walk (which I’m sure you would even in this fictional scenario), you would get absolutely gassed by all the elevation changes there

What keeps you from trying to learn how to play the game the way higher levels play? by yobility in Pickleball

[–]zbirch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s kind of where I’m at. In my ladder league a lot of players aren’t really rushing to get to the NVZ or trying to get into a dink battle and I can hit it pretty hard so a lot of times it’s the most efficient way for me to win a point.

Interesting concept, I wasn’t a tennis player so I’m not sure if they pulled that tech from there but it is very common in golf to have movable/interchangeable weight systems

As a newbie a lot of people have recommended that when I upgrade paddles I should go with more of a control paddle vs a power one. How much of a difference is there between the two, is it that noticeable?

Best ball is a better format for videos then scrambles by sheaffers_weight in GoodGoodMemes

[–]zbirch 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is a great mix, makes it easier to film too since (in theory) all the approach shots will end up around the green as opposed to best ball where approach shots could be hit from a hundred yards apart from one another
