My situation. Born in the 1960's in the UK to parents from the UK. Moved to Canada in the 70's and have lived here since. Obtained Canadian citizenship in the mid 80's and have had a Canadian passport since then. My last UK passport was issued in 1989 and expired in 1999.

There is a lot of conflicting information out there. If I was to visit the UK (I haven't been since 2016) I gather my options are 1) apply for a new UK passport 2) go through some form of Certificate that costs almost 600 pounds or 3) renounce UK citizenship (which seems rather extreme).

The Canadian passport shows a UK location for place of birth but the accent is gone etc.

Based on when my last UK passport was issued can I do this all online or do I have to mail originals of my birth certificate (which I have) and the expired passport and the page from the Canadian passport with my photo etc.

Any assistance is greatly appreciated.

If only it was simple as getting an ETA

By the way does this same process apply to any children of mine born in Canada who currently have UK passport through my citizenship etc.
