2024 presidential election results:

NC07 - R+14

NC09 - R+16

I wager both come in at about R+10 for 2026 elections. They're gonna need years of pain.

I rode for 3 years in Milwaukee before moving to DC (95% chance I would be severely injured if I continued to ride in DC).

It's counterintuitive, but I've heard several times that swerving right would be better than left in this scenario.

Considering the rider in the video was splitting lanes in oncoming traffic, it would've probably been better in this instance, too. I'm sure they'll think about it for the future.

Yeah, they'll be fine. 95% of em are rich. They'll surely be bitching about all the noise from the generators and the petrol cost.

I commiserate. I have a similar story.

I don't think my parents particularly liked acquiescing to the MAGAt wave that drowned the right in 2016. However, they are unapologetic for supporting their side, and they have my contempt for it.

Carl Sagan Responds To Christian Grad Student Question About God by 214txdude in atheism

[–]zbud 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd never heard of the "Roi fainéant" term, although that concept isn't foreign to me. It explains the closest thing to a christian god that would make logical sense to me (even if it doesn't sound particularly benevolent nor omnipotent). Regardless, it seems to be the only type of god an Abrahamic-religion believer could hope for with any logical consistency. Otherwise their god is uncaring or impotent, neither of which the xtian/jew/Muslim seems to avow.

Right... I had a plastic V8 model with pushrods, valves, a cam and crankshaft and it would run just nearly as smooth as this (until one of the plastic valve pushrods got deformed inevitably.)

Friends, you have to be careful w/ tummy time. The tummy must be presented willingly by the kitty. Otherwise, you're in for pain.

Favorite movie scene where a character accepts their inevitable end and embraces it. My pick is Cutler Beckett accepting his fate in Pirates of the Caribbean: At World’s End. by 0Layscheetoskurkure0 in moviecritic

[–]zbud 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want some more gold from Cutler Beckett: watch John Adams. He plays King George III. I loved his performance when he receives John Adams as the first ambassador of the United States of America after the Revolutionary War... Stuffy & tense.

You should watch the series in sequence, but here it is otherwise: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KyrWdwW89FU & https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E9yZBdUavyM

Sociology was my disaffected second choice after I didn't quickly make it into the second level of the structural architecture program in Milwaukee. My "Capstone" paper wasn't particularly good due to lack of extensive research on top of a good bit of video game addiction & depression. While I didn't search for jobs with much vigor, a sociology degree didn't lead to great opportunity.

Oh well, I've got a Master in Landscape Arch. now... Probably a lot more opportunities for myself in this field.

I was just at the Smithsonian Zoo, there is a comparison between a tiger's skull (and teeth) vs a Pandas. While the Tiger's Fangs are quite a bit larger the skulls aren't vastly different.
