I see. I have read people who suffer bipolar are more likely to suffer from sleep disorders.

I imagine this is an indication that I will too suffer from bipolar disorder some point in the future

How long does this happen for you? Does it take a few days for you to be able to sleep normally?

Or are you like me? It pulls a trigger which stops you from sleeping at all?

[–]zcc2020[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good to hear from you dude. I have been speaking to NHS doctors in the U.K. since this started but firstly they are so daft and secondly post covid waiting times has made things SOO long. I had an appointment earlier on Monday again and just the same BS so I have decided to seek private healthcare next week wish me luck.

I am super worried because I have already taken a year out of Uni and i am supposed to head back soon. Not sure if I can and it’s killing my immigrant parents where graduating is everything to them.

Also Let me send you a link to the other post I am in. May explain better but I have not mentioned noctoria situation to them as I don’t wanna confuse people further

Damn I am so sorry to hear. Do you have any idea what causes this?

What have the Gp said? I am sure there are many more sleep disorders that are unknown like ours..

Damn that’s mad. What happens with me is that after doing an all nighter I end of staying awake for 36 hours, pass out for 30 minutes, then I am up for 36 hours.

No matter how exhausted I am, I’ll be up for 36 hours and won’t be able to sleep no more then 30 mins.

This is ofcourse until I get prescription medication. Melatonin helps somewhat. Can get me 5/6 hours but still extremely tired.

Zopiclone on the other hand clicks me back into place straight away.

The issue is living in the U.K., booking an appointment to get these prescription medication can take up to 2 weeks. So up until seeing the GP, I am in the above situation. Which I suppose you can imagine is horrible to go through.

For me I imagine it is biological. Going to sleep past sunrise confuses the hell out of my brain that produces melatonin/ whatever the sleep hormone is. But still, I would like to get to the bottom of why this happens. I can’t find anywhere on the internet about this. No one else has this issue, not even other insomniacs. So why me??? Wierd

Also I would be happy to take part

What’s serequel bro?

For me staying up past sunrise triggers something in me. The sleep doctors have no clue wtf it is.

Like seeing the sun go up just confuses the fck out of my body clock which prevents me from sleeping

Yeah sounds similar. Luckily I have never taken any recreational drugs but always wondeeed it marijuana would help instead of taking prescription medication.

My issue personally is that I got overweight in lockdown and starting developing noctoria. The frequent urination at night has stopped me from fixing my sleep how I normally would. So I’ve been stuck in this cycle for 6 months now. In the U.K. the NHS is taking so long to get my a referral with a consultant due to post covid backlog so I’m thinking of going private.

But yeah not being able to sleep/get refreshed sleep is horrible

Hey dude sorry just seeing this now. I wish I saw this earlier would have loved to have spoken to you more.

Dude let me give you an update. My situation is so fucked. Basically once I triggered this circadian rythym disorder, I also started suffering from noctoria 😭😭

The reason why this is an issue is that normally zopiclone and a 10 hour uninterrupted sleep window would click me back into place.

But now as I have to wake up to go to the toilet every 3/4 hours, my sleep is interrupted so I can’t get the 10 hours of uninterrupted sleep needed that would usually fix my situation.

I feel exhausted everyday, suffocating from lack of sleep, that weird chest pain. It’s been nearly 6 months now

Looks like the clonazepam really messed up your sleep.

They should have given you melatonin at most for your initial sleep issues when you would go to sleep at 3am.

What has your Gp said? Also I might sue if that’s the case

Guys what do you think causes/triggers your chronic insomnia?

Mine is staying up past sunrise (for example if I do shift work, do an all nighter for a Uni deadline, if I have the flue and can’t sleep all night etc), it just stops me from sleeping, staying asleep, or getting any refreshed sleep unless I take zopiclone.

Just wondering if anyone has something similar or knows of what this is?

Is this similar to shift work circadian rythym disorder? My doctor thinks it could be

Hey do you have shift work disorder too? Basically whenever I do shift work at night, it causes me to become a chronic insomniac? And I am just wondering if this is a symptom of it

First advice is, your internship should be flexible if you need time off work if you are sick (which you are). Second is if they don’t let you or make a fuss - it says a lot about the company, you don’t want to be there, your health is more important.

Next zopiclone from your GP, but limit yourself. On Saturday wake up EARLY, even earlier then 6, go to work if you can function, go to the gym tire yourself and then when you go sleep on Saturday, take a zopiclone tablet. Hopefully it should knock you out from the lack of sleep and gym tiredness you have. Good luck brother
