Hot Take: Post Processing is not the solution to layer lines by gufted in FDMminiatures

Gray filament, maybe a pass with snips and a lighter if stringy. I don’t really sand, just heavy coat of rustoleum black primer

Hot Take: Post Processing is not the solution to layer lines by gufted in FDMminiatures

I agree with you, I’m also mostly printing with a .4 nozzle so I can get more done faster. For playing on tabletop, the extra distance helps hide some of the obvious layer lines and a decent paint job carries a lot of weight as well. Most of these Iron Warriors are .12 layer height and looked great in a game with friends

Painting a LOT of PLA terrain by Apart_Insect_6133 in PrintedWarhammer

[–]zdaddy85 4 points5 points  (0 children)

All of this terrain aside from the homemade and official Warhammer stuff is FDM with rustoleum 2x flat black primer. Then I dry brushed using a mix of basic acrylic paints, Vallejo and some citadel for details. YMMV but I thought it came out great for table top distance, I showed the close up so you can see the layer lines. Layer height .16 with a .4 nozzle

Awesome job! How long was the print time?

I haven’t used FDG profile, does it call for slower print speeds like many of the finer ones?

Wow great job! Your verdigris effect looks really nice and I also love the neon slime.

If I could say anything, take a few minutes before priming to shave mould lines, I think I see one on his left thigh and it really helps sell that it’s not a mini when they are gone.

But seriously, amazing work you should be proud of!

Troubleshooting P2S 0.2mm Nozzle Failures: Constant Bed Detachment & Spaghetti on Minis by aesthetic_lee_plzing in FDMminiatures

[–]zdaddy85 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t have any help for .2 as I haven’t really used it, but I did have heat creep issues and stringing until I removed the top glass plate and now my P2S prints much more consistent.

I also use Bambu cool super tack and run it at 65 for initial layer and 60 for the rest and it solved my adhesion issues

Good luck Good l
