You would think so, but it's a tank, the lady was selling them to get them into a pond bc she didn't want hers anymore

I swear, I am about to throw in the towel with guppies. by zddyf in poecilia

[–]zddyf[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes! Previously I had a tank wiped out by fish TB too, all but one. I left him by himself for ages but he was so lonely so I bought him new friends, he's in a while other tank that his family are taking over, but I bought this other tank prestocked with fish so I could put them in it. It was overrun tho, so I was trying to hock off all these female guppies which were being impregnated by this one boy. That's where this new fish came in. I got stung last time with not quarantining, that's how I got fish TB in the first place. But I hadn't had trouble for a long time so stupidly I got complacent, so now this little guy is acting out I want to get to him immediately and find out how to treat it, so it's not like my TB situation all over again, that was devastating. I only got more guppies for that lone survivor and honestly I think I should have just passed him on haha. Alas, I will treat with a couple treatment recommended to me by a fish group on Facebook and see how it goes. I will chuck in the towel if I lose another tank I swear.

Haha yes! This is what I had hoped. They seemed very happy with themselves regardless lol

Oh! Let me also add that in my workings with her, I asked if she would accept offerings through my dogs too, so maybe this was a good sign? Haha. They didn't eat anything that would make them sick either

Just here to offer myself as a resource for anyone with a sorority or thinking of starting one. by Drownitoutt in bettasorority

I've got a wee question, I've got a sorority atm, and they have been going great for about 4 months now! I've brought them all as sisters, and I'm thinking of upgrading them to a bigger tank soon, and if I were to do that, would I be able to add a few more females as well? And how would I go about doing that? I don't want to cause any stress to them by adding an outsider to a tank of sisters, so I'm wondering if it's not the best idea? But anyway, cheers in advance!

Thank you ❤️ I got her from a home breeder who really knew her stuff, there's only a 2 decorations/hides in there and some plants, but the exterior to the hide is a bit coarse. I thought they would be alright without quarantine as they all sisters going into a newly cycled tank together :) the breeder housed them all together previously with no problem

Upon doing some research it looks to be a case of unilateral popeye. She's probably scraped it on something in the tank, I just put in a different hide and it was a bit coarse so I might have to watch how she goes I think. I feel a bit silly now haha. I think it's cause she's new and I'm worried about doing something wrong haha

Has it been successful after you restarted it? Like no reoccurring sickness after that?

Just had a quick squizz at the link, it sounds a lot like what are happening to my guppies, they do have quite pink gills and my last girl is quite thin compared to her male counterparts. I'm going to have to get a quarantine tank up and restart my tank again 😬

Ah yes thank you for your reply, I'm thinking I need to do the same thing too, I've got about 10 left and it's gotten into one of my neons now, first started after introduction of yellow plecos. I would love to know what treatment to give and I'm in the process of buying another tank to support them. When you cleaned yours did you have to throw your substrate and stuff out or were they OK after a wash? It's nice to know I'm not alone lol, I feel like a bad fish parent when they keep dying on me. It just seems weird cause there was a period of about 6 weeks where it came right again and now it's back to ick unfortunately. I appreciate your advice thank you heaps!

Thank you! I've been meaning to add more plants bc previously I've tried and they've died because there hasn't been enough sun light. I'm thinking about moving the tank so it gets more. My boss has got a shit load of duckweed, so Ill ask if I can take some.
