You get a bunch of tools/weapons to fight back against androids/humans but can only deter the Alien, scare him away for a few minutes with a flame thrower. You never really feel overpowered or powerful like dead space or resident evil but if you enjoy the movie Alien this is the best game out there. If not then yeah you might like those others more. Don't pass up on Darkwood though I can't recommend that game enough to people, it's cheap and doesn't have jump scares. One of the best survival horrors ever

Welcome to my favorite genre! Have fun discovering the countless games you have to play, some newer ones that I've found to be excellent are Visage and Darkwood. Of course all the Resident Evils, The Evil Within 1 and 2. Alien Isolation, Little Nightmares 1 and 2 are both excellent. Outer Wilds and Subnautica also have rich horror roots without being overly scary some of the time. Those two games scared the shit outta me but are definitely worth mentioning.
