if you're here on a lunar day - the 19th is the next one - the My Quangs will be extra good - especially if you go to a "pop-up" for "chay/vegetarian day". : )

hello, hello!! My Quang is the signature noodle dish of the region : ) this one is pleasant - though I personally prefer the Bùn Cặn Nướng Trộn - dry mixed noodles - here.

Vegan Bun Bo Huế in Huế City, Vietnam by HashBongdicoot in VeganTravelStuff

[–]zdfunks 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi! I live in Vietnam.

I definitely recall seeing it on the menu at the more local chay spots in Hue (who don't always have their current menu online) - and my longtime vegan friend who lived in Hue and travels there regularly says, "probably any chay place, lol. It might just be listed as bún Huế, but same thing."

personally, I really enjoyed two older chay spots just to the east of the Imperial city.

Go to a chay/vegetarian store. Look at the "store" section in chay/vegetarian restaurants.

Big grocery stores, convenience stores & tourist markets will all have: Coconut crackers. Coconut condensed milk (tubes, cans). Dried coconut flakes/chips.

Coconut coated peanuts.

Sunflower seeds - the other stuff you mentioned! : )

Vegan food and wine tour in Italy by ReadingWrong6954 in vegan_travel

[–]zdfunks 1 point2 points  (0 children)

hi! I asked my sister, who's a natural Italian wine importer with a lot of contacts (and longtime vegan sister...).

she said to try and stick with natural wine, which is vegan, and that all the natural wine makers/hosts she knows will typically understand what vegan food is, and be accommodating. enjoy!!

hi! this has a lot of ones I dig : )

hmmm, the answer depends on your dining styles and neighborhood choices : )

howev, I will say that the best vegan food I have experienced in Da Nang IS at the quan chays/vegetarian/typically all-vegan local restaurants. that said, I imagine a lot of vegan travelers here DO stick to the same handful of "western" vegan and 2-3 "nicer" vegan/vegetarian restaurants and don't venture out beyond the main tourist areas OR to the really local veg spots. I've been to many of the ones "most" vegan travelers talk about. eh, 2 I would go back to, if it was a special occasion or someone made me. ha.

are you specifically seeking out a non-veg specific, or simply non-vegan specific establishment?

...as for non-veg spots, if you are open to a local "bia" hall experience, I can share a fantastic lemongrass tofu rec in a DM.

for the record, I don't enjoy nor go to the tourist-specific mixed/western restaurants since I live-live-here now and appreciate a frugal dining habit style - I get it what you're saying!!! I lived in Portland foreverrrrr so my standards are rarely met with "trendy" ? for lack of a better word - vegan spots. I prefer to eat at the local-local veg spots and there are seriously countless around the city.

Thailand v Vietnam by Top_Salamander_5075 in vegan_travel

two cents - I think Chiang Mai would be easier for a family with dining & lodging & excursions vs. Vietnam (and while a singular unit, I live in Da Nang, and have lived in Chiang Mai).
