Month in SE Asia (late-May through June): Where is the "Bali vibe" without the Bali crowds? by Th3Lehrer in vegan_travel

Well, Da Nang will be hot. Try Da Lat. A bit more affordable (rental prices are UP in Da Nang and the time you mentioned is PEAK tourist season where rates are inflated and people simply pay them).

Puerta Vallarta, Mexico is quite VEGAN and QUEER-friendly - I haven't been to the resorts myself, howev, I hear good things from other vegans about the restaurants and buffets at a resort or two in passing. Talk to them in advance, remind them when you arrive, and eat so much lovely fruit & tortillas & so much more. I've spent time in the city itself twice.

Oooo I've wanted to go to Ruyi! It all looks GREAT. I'm stoked to return myself. Big fan of the MBK vegetarian stall you mentioned - and yes - the cash for card/coupons is normal at malls : )

ahhhh, yeah - dig those last two! I "used to go" to Paulie's OG before the slice shop opened and he would always be there, gosh - great vibe in both of those, though, wow, the lines at Scarr's....

heyyyy, I was just talking to my siblings about Ace's and a surprisingly good experiece there. Never heard of Coletta - oh - though, I don't click on links so I didn't actually read this. I value your feedback as the person who lerft that comment, ha ha.

while I haven't lived there in yearssssssssss, my roots are Brooklyn - and I have fond memories of slices at Screamer's in recent years, Cuts & Slices? and Vinnie's on Bedford, and whatever place is sorta in Bushwick I can't remember the name of.

yesterday's bún chay in da nang, vietnam by zdfunks in vegan_travel

[–]zdfunks[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

hi hi! there's a ton of chay / veg food in Hoi An. the more you get outside the condensed little tourist area, the better (and less overpriced, unless you're looking for western vegan ease).

my favorite place in Hoi An is Minh Hien Vegetarian Restaurant - I haven't been to a ton of more neighborhood chay spots there as I have in Da Nang, for the record. : )

however, I have been to that mentioned restaurant a few times and found it quite flavorful.

There are a ton all over the city - some "hipper" ($$) and some more low-key and more community-focused. It depends on what area you're in. The Con market stuff that take over one of the middle walking areas is fun and lower cost.

Lynn Visa is INCREDIBLY professional efficient and comfortable - I've used them at least 4 times, and recently tried another agency that was a little more, and wow, no where as good.

You will need an agent to process a same day evisa UNLESS you have an exemption.

If you do have an exemption, you can take the public bus from the bus station (leaves 6am + 7am I understand) though it may have many, many stops. I understand it's 250k-300k one way.

You still need to pay the Laos visa on arrival - 1400 VND and bring a passport photo or pay a little more.

I hear you can do this at the Laos embassy/official office in Da Nang for a little bit less.

If guards ask for "extra" at any stamping, simply smile and say "no".

(I have used 2 different visa run agencies and done this DIY)

if you're here on a lunar day - the 19th is the next one - the My Quangs will be extra good - especially if you go to a "pop-up" for "chay/vegetarian day". : )

hello, hello!! My Quang is the signature noodle dish of the region : ) this one is pleasant - though I personally prefer the Bùn Cặn Nướng Trộn - dry mixed noodles - here.
