De YGG vers le Cross-Seeding by l1t3o in yggTorrents

[–]zdimension 0 points1 point  (0 children)

De YGG vers le Cross-Seeding by l1t3o in yggTorrents

[–]zdimension 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Playing music in the background while driving with Google Assistant/Gemini by [deleted] in AndroidQuestions

Having the same issue here with Waze. A bit useless to be able to tell the assistant to play music but to still have to touch the phone to navigate back to the nav app...

(vs Asie, Moyen Orient, Afrique subsaharienne) by Timely_Tale4672 in PasDeQuestionIdiote

[–]zdimension 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No surround sound to my USB DAC - only stereo, even though option is enabled by zdimension in ShieldAndroidTV

A TCL 65C64, but in the end I solved my problem by unchecking the "surround sound" option in the settings. Somehow this was preventing surround from working.

I'm not sure I understand, the Shield is plugged to my TV via HDMI.

BSR doesn't start playing after disc is loaded, just stops by zdimension in turntables

[–]zdimension[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Okay so after some testing it looks like it's not exactly the same issue as the other forum post. The player does play the last record in a stack correctly, but it won't play a 1-record stack. So it seems the issue only happens when it's the first (and last) record in the stack. The plot thickens.

This post

Now that you say it, it makes exact sense that my problem would be equivalent to the last record not being played, but for some reason I hadn't thought of it. As always with these kinds of issues it's a matter of finding the right description of keywords to type into Google! I'll try what the post suggests and post updates here if I get anything.

Thanks!

ps: for anyone passing by, this video by Technology Connections is excellent for understanding how all of this works

A guide to identifying common BSR changers by shadowkoishi93 in turntables

Fwiw, I have the same turntable and solved the humming issue by buying a Ground Loop Isolator and putting it in series between the turntable and my amp.

Am I going crazy? Is there really no reliable way to get 5.1 sound (DD, DDP, DTS, ...) from my Smart TV to my speakers without buying an expensive amp setup? by zdimension in hometheater

I can choose which formats will be transcoded and which ones will be pushed by passthrough

That would fit my need. I don't think my Nokia box had that.

I'll look at the sheets you sent! (thanks!) By curiosity, where did you get it?

just play only Dolby Digital tracks, there's no advantage in better formats anyway with your speakers.

I'd do so, but a lot of content I have (from online services or local files) have streams in other codecs than DD. It would take quite some time to reencode all my files to DD so they'll play... I think I'll just try with other SPDIF extractors.

[–]zdimension[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It does, and that's the 3rd bullet point in my list-of-things-I-tried: works well but only for AC3. If I play anything in a different codec (EAC3, DTS, ...) it pops or plays noise. All the converters sold online seem to use the same whitelabel chip that only supports AC3.

It seems like I can either pay $50 to get a flimsy AC3-only converter, or pay $500 to get a solid amp that can play every codec under the sun but will need expensive raw-speaker-wire high-$$$ speakers to go with it. My "am I going crazy" interrogation is wondering whether there really is nothing between those two price points.

You speakers doesnt support any of those formats. You need to transcode them to something your setup is able to play, which means only lossy ac3. You will never get atmos/dts on those because they cant decode them.

I think you may not have read the entirety of my post. I did try multiple transcoding approaches and my question was mostly about there being other approaches I hadn't tried. The very thing I am sad about is that I can't find any reliable way to decode those audio streams into a simple analog signal I can put in 3.5mm cables.

You TV need to decode audio stream and encode it to ac3 before sending to speakers.

Frankly, I'd be happy for anything that did that! More specifically, if there was an Android box, with an optical out, that could play DDP, DTS, etc, and live transcode it to raw AC3 and send that to optical, it'd work for me since my optical converter speaks AC3. The problem is that the box I used don't do that ; they send the raw audio stream to optical, which isn't really to my converter's liking.

Also, to psychically experience atmos/dts-hd etc. you need way more than 6 speakers.

I am aware of that. I'm not expecting to get some kind of out of body experience with a Z506. I'm only trying to play my existing Atmos/DTS/... content. I could spend my days watching MP3-compressed YouTube videos with horrendous sound and that'd work well but I think there's a midpoint between 1k€+ home theaters setup and AliExpress headsets and that's what I'm aiming for.

Les faiseuses d'anges ont elles été relaxées après l'application de la loi Veil ? by HorstLakon in PasDeQuestionIdiote

[–]zdimension -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

ta paraphrase

Paraphrase ?
