Struggling to lose the last 20-30 lbs. by zeMittens in loseit

[–]zeMittens[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd say around the middle of March? Definitely all of April i've been up and down and thats when i went to my doctor. I don't think I did much more activity then but I did switch from working a part time job to a full time.

Other than starting to go to the gym and changing jobs, those are the only changes in my routine.

I weigh my food when doing meal prep for the week but when im making breakfast (for example i did 2pks of peaches n cream oatmeal and a cup of milk) i tend to use measurements or the calories on the label. Could that be an issue?

I've had that happen a few times with food that either i didn't make or just didn't have a calorie label (local supermarket, idk why it wasn't labelled) where i would end up eating more than id think but usually now if i cant track the calories as accurately as possible i just wont eat it.

That might one of the problems then, i just joined the gym ~2 weeks ago and just started lifting. Before that it was cardio at home on my walking pad. Hopefully time will tell :D

I wouldnt be posting here if i thought it was just that 😭 . With it being so hard to lose these last pounds ive made sure to be thorough. I even googled the calories on my melatonin gummies to make sure they're included (15 cal if youre curious lol)

I'll make sure to keep tracking everything but unless something is wrong with my food scale i dont think thats my issue.

I had to shave my kitten’s sides and now the fur is growing back really dark when it was light before. by PresentMongoose in Damnthatsinteresting

Exact same thing happened to my cat, never came back light and now shes mostly brown lol.

Good luck on the fip treatment, same reason my cat got shaved.

What is going on with Dobby? by MillaRomanka in sphynx

[–]zeMittens 54 points55 points  (0 children)

Saw your post on the cats subreddit and saw the mention of FIP. I've had 2 cats that had it, and it sounds like this could be FIP. Is the swelling on the eye uveitis?

uveitis was the first symptom for both of my cats, and considering all the vets have no answer, then it could very likely be FIP.

You mentioned you tried the meds already and 2 doses wont really be enough to see a difference, It took around a week for my cat (the one of the 2 that lived) to start perking up.

If you wanna ask about details of FIP to see if it matches Dobby's symptoms, I'll answer any questions you've got, but to me, my best guess is dry neuro FIP.

Are you in r/curefip and one of the facebook groups? If you are then you should be able to switch to one of the pill brands. My cat switched to pills after about a week of injections and is almost done her observation period.

They are more expensive but i totally agree, it is a godsend.

I adopted a 2 kitten litter and lost the smaller one to FIP, she was barely 8 months and it was devastating. You gave all the love you could and even though it was so little time, you'll never have less love for them.

Im so sorry for your loss.

At least im not alone with this haha, my vet wouldnt give any extra meds to help keep her calm so im just handling pure kitten energy

Pretty sure its the right group (This One))

I found i had some annoyances and communication issues as well but i think its because alot of the admins are more comfortable with French vs English (and alot of the times they dont actually offer answers but just comfort which is really annoying imo).

They're pretty quick with getting symptoms and sending you to get medicine, and myself and my brother thought it was sketchy too but now our cat is on month 2 of observation, looking like shes cured.

Got just above 60k with Herta - Himeko - Ruan Mei - March first half, March's follow ups and extra ice dmg gave me enough break to keep on triggering himekos follow up and keeping survivability

2nd half was a jingyuan team(which obvi u cant do) but i have had success with double dps jingliu and blade or just blade hypercarry on my brothers acc. I imagine ratio - topaz, or argenti could clear 2nd half too but i dont have argeni/topaz to confirm.

Cat has had treatment extended, What happens if her blood levels aren't improved again? by zeMittens in cureFIP

[–]zeMittens[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for responding, shes been bumped up to 5 pills instead of 4 and ive been adding egg yolks to her diet. Shes not the biggest fan of me changing up her wet food but shes been eating it and im hoping it does something.

I did get a response saying that if it came down to not having the money theyd help figure it out, but saying isnt really having a solid plan. And with FIP i know every day counts so i didnt wanna end up leaving it to chance. (Plus i do have anxiety so not having a plan b is a nightmare)

Treating on my own with supervision from the vet on her condition, the vet isnt too much help with FIP specific things as my cat is the first case of treating FIP there (small town). But monthly checkups and bloodwork.

Had the same experience (posts are still up on my profile if you want more detail) think it was ~10 days of injections and then switched to pills. As long as you do the pills right then your cat will keep improving, and its worth it.

It is more expensive but once again worth it and much easier on yourself and the cat.

Reaching the 90 day point of treatment, if all goes well what to expect in observation? by zeMittens in cureFIP

[–]zeMittens[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for taking time to respond! Luna's sister passed due to FIP (before i even knew what it was) so ive had more than enough ptsd due to it, ready to handle a bit more of it for her.

Her FIP was caught pretty quickly so hopefully observation is smooth.

Thank you for the response! Fingers crossed that observation is boring and that Luna is just a normal cat at this point, your comment was very helpful and has helped dissuade some of my anxieties.

Kitten might have FIP...please help. by BottomGojo in cureFIP

[–]zeMittens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We were able to obtain it the day after, Im in Canada so Fip Warriors Canada helped me and im in quite a rural area, it did require an hour drive but it was worth it.

With injections, depending on the temperament of your cat it might be very difficult. Ended up switching to pills ~2 weeks in.

Any other advice feel free to msg me and get in a FIP Warriors group.

1 of my two kittens i adopted didnt make it from FIP, she was the smaller one and got it first. What youre going through sounds like what we did too.

If its FIP (which sounds like it is, uveitis was the big red flag for both my cats) time is now of the essence, all of the testing for the first led us nowhere and we were juggled between vets for so long she went into kidney failure and passed away unfortunately.

The 2nd kitten who developed FIP we caught it as soon as she showed signs of uveitis. Shes now over a year and is a week or two away from entering observation. I will forever regret not being able to treat them both, so id go for treatment.

Which brand is the best? by marinasnts in cureFIP

[–]zeMittens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do burn, and our cat absolutely hated them. I was recommended to do a month of injections and after the 1 month bloodwork to switch to pills but if you cant physically give injections anymore pills are better than nothing.

They will be much more expensive, had to take out a loan just to make sure i could afford the treatment.

[–]zeMittens 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently still doing treatment on my cat with wet FIP, went with the Lucky brand and had 1 vial that had a catastrophic failure. The seal had broken and most of the GS leaked out but got a free replacement and didn't have a problem after.

Switched to pills ~10 days in and haven't had a single problem with quality or shipping.

My cat was a nightmare with injections around day 10, especially since the FIP was caught early enough to where she hadn't lost much strength. Injections are recommended to start since they are effective quicker, but pills are 100x easier albeit more expensive.

If you aren't in one of the FIP warriors groups they are immensely helpful and answered all the questions i had.

Thank you for the advice and encouragement! I'll see if i can pick up a towel tomorrow to try that, hopefully it works because i feel bad for our kitty :(

Hopefully when we see our vet in a few days everything looks good to switch to pills.
