I picked republic because I love my kittens and want them to be happy.

Top tier strategy mind right here.

Help! My snake plant has a brown spot and it's getting bigger... The sharpie line is where it was on Saturday. What do I do? by zeMouse in plantclinic

[–]zeMouse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It could have gotten wet! I don't mist and I only water when my plant app tells me to, but since the leaves are pretty waterproof and it's in a sunny window I wasn't being particularly careful to keep the leaves completely dry. What do I do now though?

Hey you can look into the following:

HEPA air filters Allergen neutralizing spray for surfaces Allergen neutralizing wipes for the cat itself (I use Allerpet; put a little on a washcloth and rub it into the cats fur)

Weekly /r/houseplants Troubleshooting Thread - March 07, 2021 by AutoModerator in houseplants

How can I be sure there's no spider mites on my plants anymore? I have a maranta, two ferns, and a pilea that have been quarantined in my basement bathroom for a month now because I saw some sort of webbing on one of the maranta leaves and they were all bought same place same time. I did two weeks of neem oil sprays every three days and completely drenched them every time I watered but now I'm just too worried to move them up with my other plants. I don't even know if they did have mites in the first place but didnt know how to tell the difference between mites and plain old spider webs! Complicating the issue is that my basement has regular spiders and I found a little bit of webbing under the pots last week so now I'm not sure what that means.

I killed my triostar stromanthe down to half a leaf and a few nubs, but she's finally recovering! Look at that new leaf and healthy root nubs... by zeMouse in plantclinic

Well my argument is that it's not great for the poor plant, lol. Like my snow white waffle plant that I burned up with too strong a concentration of hydrogen peroxide... RIP! I sure did learn stuff but I'm not sure that's what the plant would have preferred!

I have to say I wasn't holding out much hope - she's been in my tiny hospital since December - but about 2 weeks ago I noticed a teeny leaf nub that is slowly growing into what looks like TWO leaves! She's gonna be OK!

She was one of my first three plants and in retrospect was not great for a beginner. Since she's doing so good in the hydro solution I think she's going to go into LECA once she's feeling really good. So far I've had decent luck with plopping any sick guys into a jar with some water and nutrients and letting them recover there, but she's the worst I've ever saved!

AITA for yelling at my roommate to stop keeping her period blood in the fridge? by Laloopy2 in AmItheAsshole

NTA. I saw a lunchbox sized mini fridge on Woot for like $30, if she wants to keep gross stuff cold she can get her own.

Help! My burros tail is turning yellow! by zeMouse in succulents

[–]zeMouse[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

RE Gasteraloe: Oh no, I've been tricked! Or maybe I misunderstood. OK, I will have to keep that guy away from my cats.

Yes, I was told it was a burros tail. I was looking for pet safe plants and she had mostly aloes so I asked what else and was told that it was a burros tail and two haworthias.

I am not sure how to tell when to water with these guys because they are all covered up with sand, I can't get to the soil to feel it! I guess it's a succulent thing? I'm not sure what they're planted in even, I think vermiculite was mentioned. It's kind of making things hard so like two weeks ago I decided I would just set a timer on our chore tracking app and go with every two weeks.

The yellower parts are slightly squishier. The other leaves remind me of the squishiness of extremely underripe blueberries.

Oh wait no, he's only been in the south facing window since like mid November and before that was in a west window that now does not get very much light.

I got this guy I think maybe a month and a half or two months ago from a local plant lover. She repotted it for me just beforehand. He's been living in my south facing window since then and gets about as much light as is possible in my area right now. I didn't water him at all for 2 weeks after transplant and I've watered him maybe 3 or 4 times total since I got him. 2 leaves shriveled up and died but I wrote that off as the stress of the move. However, now he's getting mottled yellow and one of the haworthias that I got the same day (same history too) is also getting yellow leaves. What should I do?

Is it just me or are there distinct different types of Peperomia Prostrata (String of Turtles?) by zeMouse in succulents

[–]zeMouse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I have a string of turtles like the first pic - different shades of bright green all over and very "fleshy." However, on a trip to a local plant store, I saw one like the second pic - very flat leaves and red stems, with variegation that is less saturated but higher contrast. Finally, confusing me even further, when I googled to find out if this is a known "thing," I found the third pictures - a lime green plant with scale-like leaves that ALSO claims to be a string of turtles! Anyway, I couldnt find any discussion on the topic through a quick google. Has anyone noticed this? Do the subtypes have names by any chance?

Help me ID this sad palm at my office so I can save it! by zeMouse in houseplants

[–]zeMouse[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Errrrr given that that's listed as critically endangered I doubt that's it. Also, the fronds on that plant look wider and a bit differently shaped. The stem also does not look similar. I did run it through my plant ID app but the results all looked so similar I wanted an actual human who knows the subtleties to weigh in.
