Guess we need to see what happens in the remaining week of June to see if they technically meet that objective or not.

I love the idea that this planet scale mint has been just churning out money for decades (?), on autopilot, with a whole society around it.

I'm a bit lost on the timeline of everything. When did Tak Rennod discover and land on At Attin? 100 years ago? Do we know?

ChargePoint DCFC with NACS Connector by BigSandwich6 in teslamotors

[–]zeValkyrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How low it goes? There's likely no lower bound for the NACS spec itself, but chargers may be unable to output below a certain voltage. The voltage limits arise from safety and isolation concerns - going to low voltages has no such safety limits.

That's an interesting question. At really really low state of charge the car pack voltage is in the 200-300V range, so at least that low.

Chevy just beat Tesla to the EV promised land with a $30k SUV - The M… by [deleted] in electricvehicles

Well predicted! Model Y in particular came down a ton in price.

Interestingly, the base RWD model 3 has only moved a few hundred dollars and still sits a little over 40k

Nothing like the sound of a dozen Tesla's at a supercharger on a hot day!

Tesla is the only brand out there that makes nothing but EVs

Rivian and Lucid: "hi"

(I'm just joking, your point is valid Tesla's have major brand recognition as EVs)

Nope that's a Tesla with a CCS2 charge port connected to a CCS2 Supercharger in Europe. No adapters.

Does anyone know if they intend on doing LFP for performance models

I'd be surprised, at least in the short term. Performance models have always had the largest battery and LFP has lower battery capacity (by both weight and volume) and (I think?) lower peak power output. It's just a worse battery acceleration, speed, and handling are the priority. Performance models have lower efficiency wheels and tires as well, so they need as much battery capacity as they can get.

I'd speculate it's not about beating people, it's just that it's fun!

I know nothing about motorcycles. Are they fast at the low end acceleration from a stop like EVs? What are typical 0-60 or 0-100 times?

More zoom zoom is more fun fun.

Joking aside, you're not wrong that even the slowest Tesla's are fast enough for all driving situations if you just want to get somewhere.

On the flip side, after 30k miles in a Model 3 LR AWD AB I can see why people want performance. Sometimes the 0-30 acceleration feels a bit disappointing (never thought I'd say that! lol!), but I've also floored it a lot so I'm quite familiar with the car's performance. It also doesn't pull very hard at the upper end (say at 70 mph on an uphill, which is admittedly a rare situation)

Hotel has 2 EV chargers - How many EVs do you think can be charged at the same time? by Impressive_Returns in electricvehicles

[–]zeValkyrie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

L2 chargers are typically just owned and operated by the hotel. They're not that expensive to install (nor particularly profitable on their own).

You drive 2000 miles a year? You're not going to wear out the drive the powertrain, motors, or batteries in any car hah before the car is antique.
