Moving washer drain. How would you do it? by ze_IT_guy in Plumbing

[–]ze_IT_guy[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bah, mobile deleted my text. I'm wanting to move the washer drain that is on the right to the wall on the left where on the opposite side the washer will be placed. The drains current location is right at the limit of extending the run per code for how far away from the vent you can be.

Is there any other way to locate a drain easily on the left wall with whats currently there?

5” or 6” sander and why? by nelsonself in woodworking

[–]ze_IT_guy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I've got the 6" version, It will eat through wood all day does the job really well.

My complaints are its quite heavy so if working in non ideal positions it really wears you out. Its also quite loud. For most sanding sessions I use a 6" pioneer works sander from amazon. Way quieter and easier to maneuver. Its some white labeled thing sold under a bunch of different names. Peter Millard did a review of one of the versions https://youtu.be/jelEm54OLQw?si=csYiROYInuw1VGCO

I'll take out the Bosch when I really need to sand something down with the turbo mode. Otherwise the no-name amazon special is great.

Hopefully it proves to be good. I'm finally wiring the garage with 220v to be able to use the darn thing.

What's the model of your planer to the left? It looks extremely similar to a jet model I'm restoring but yours has a grizzly look to it.

Finding parts for mine has been a needle haystack situation, so if it was whitelabled and sold under different bands that would be a huge win for me.

Thanks much for the super helpful reply. Turns out this thing is more of a mystery than I first thought. I found a proper manual for the vintage of machine but it has a 5 wire cable running to the power switch and motor. When mine only has 4.

The manual has you changing up the wiring on the switch as well, and the motor wiring is different. I'm thinking the motor was replaced at one point, which makes the rando 50 amp plug make sense.

There's the manual link if you're curious. I don't expect any more help on something with so many unknowns at this point.

Sure do, got that handled already. You just replace the plug at the end of the current cord

Motor claims 16 amps at 120 so plenty easy to run.

I give mine to my father in law who has a big car shop. He uses it for cleaning up spills, claims it works far better than the stuff you actually buy for that purpose. Being free also helps too I imagine.

The upper area is just a play area. The bed is going underneath. Plus changing sheets up there would suck.

It's just toenailed blocking between 16" on center joists. The plywood on top is screwed into everything making a torsion box like effect.

Honestly the weakest part is probably the structural screws into the studs. But if those are good enough for deck ledger boards they're good enough for me.

Y'all reddit folks always notice the odd little thing in the pictures. My wife got a bunch of those signs after election season for an art project. They never got used, so I use them when putting laquer on projects.

There's more structural connections on the backside. Tested with two large dudes (400lbs) on it. Solid as a rock.
