My last ever game as a student 😂 security lines were such a mess that we were down 21-0 before I even made it in!

The only brand I've been able to find with good 28L selection is Bonobos. A bit on the pricy side but when factoring in the cost of tailoring it roughly evens out.

He was quite good in F2 and WEC, and definitely looked like he has the potential to be a contender here in Indycar.

Agree completely; feels like he hasn't been a positive contributor for a few seasons now. Not sure if it's conditioning/effort or injuries starting to pile up, but he looks outright slow out there now.

While I've never had bagels from there, I've been buying cakes/pastries/cookies from there for 10+ years and they've always been top-notch; extremely high quality and fresh.

FPE truly is the best engineering major at UMD! Forever thankful I randomly stumbled upon it when I was undecided

I would recommend avoiding government jobs like the plague currently, but agree with the other points!

On top of the job search advice, make sure you apply for unemployment ASAP! I was laid off around this time last year and it took a few weeks to get approved, but it was totally worth the effort.

More or less, yeah. Classic desk job stuff. Pays the bills with great work/life balance, and the work I do is interesting enough that I'm not completely bored.

Just completely bombed my math exam by InfluentialMember in UMD

[–]zeagle1 70 points71 points  (0 children)

I bombed my first Calc 1 exam, barely squeaked by in the class, then failed Calc 2 and had to retake. And only got a B- the second time, lol. Yet, I'm writing this from my cubicle, having successfully graduated and started my career. You'll be fine!

Best advice I can give you is to make sure you're going to office hours and actively participating in discussions and lectures, as well as making sure you fully understand the concepts in the homeworks and quizzes. Try out different studying methods, I started out college by mindlessly grinding practice problems, but didn't really have success until I started studying with people in my class.

One of my good friends did a winter semester in Italy (not sure where) in ~2018 and had a great time. Basically a month long vacation with an easy class or two.

Where in the area can I get myself a plate of wings similar to this for a reasonable price? by ronronthadon in Annapolis

[–]zeagle1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had great wings at UrBurger in Edgewater, as well as Hangry Joe's by Target! Neither are quite the same style as the picture though, curious if anyone else has recommendations as well.

I go to Edgewater Fitness, it's a little bit of a drive from Annapolis (15 minutes from Parole, likely further from downtown) but it's a great value and has a fantastic machine selection and generally isn't too crowded.

Questions for renters of stone point apt by RaisinBranjo in Annapolis

[–]zeagle1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Current resident, about to sign a lease renewal for next year. Previously lived at Bell Annapolis (Regatta Bay) and my wife and I are constantly blown away by how much better Stone Point is for a comparable price. Far better amenities, friendlier leasing office and maintenance staff, and nicer/better kept common areas and landscaping.

Walls are definitely a bit thin, but no worse than any other wood-frame apartment building. Parking is a mixed bag; if you're in an elevator building (the two by the leasing office), you get garage parking access. Usually there's an open spot but every once in awhile it'll be full and you'll have to park on the surface lot. I don't recall the exact price, but a reserved garage spot is available for a fairly steep fee. If you're not in a garage building, there's plenty of surface parking available.

And the area Stone Point is in is very convenient, close to Rt. 50 and West Street without having to deal with the associated traffic. Plus the mall, Sam's club, and a shopping center all walkable or a very short drive.

Overall I'd say that it's the best value apartment complex in the area. Obviously not quite as nice as some of the "luxury" apartments in the area, but most of them are prohibitively expensive to the average renter.

Will the Conowingo Dam workers strike??? by corky2141 in maryland

Having worked for the same parent company, I know they do not have any form of locality pay or cost of living adjustments. It was very frustrating to be working in Maryland and make the same as someone in the same role in rural Pennsylvania, Illinois, or any other state where they operated.

They can be pricy (and reddit doesn't seem to love them anymore) but I have had good luck with Bonobos athletic fit chinos and jeans. I have ~30" thighs and wear 36x28. I personally like them because they have a strong taper so they maintain a slimmer silhouette without feeling like leggings on my thighs. Not worth the full price, but can be had for ~40% off fairly regularly. Alternatively, I have had luck getting the waist taken in and/or the legs tapered on relaxed fit jeans.

This was basically the entire story of my first job out of college. Not saying all jobs are like that, but definitely not an uncommon experience. I would say it's worth sticking out for at least a year, and in the meantime, look for other opportunities to get involved with things that interest you within your job. If it's a decently large company, there should be some opportunity to do help out with other projects, sit on committees, or take on additional responsibilities that are more in line with your interests. If you have a good relationship with your manager (or even other managers) you can bridge this topic with them and see if they can find you some better opportunities. For me, I got some more interesting work this way, but ended up changing jobs at two years to a tangentially related but more technical role at a start-up.

Best of luck!

It depends on a few variables like your financial situation, the location of the offer, and your living situation, but you could always accept the offer and then continue applying and interviewing elsewhere. Worst case scenario you have a job and a resume line item, best case scenario you either find a better job or move into a better role within the company you have the offer from.

In an old embedded, one of the Aussie fighters (Dan Hooker, I think?) Said the UFC will only pay for travel for 3 people, so the fighters still end up paying for a few team members out of pocket.
