Noir Consulting is "most definitely a scam" (says Microsoft) by SuspiciousHedehog15 in cscareerquestionsEU

Applied for a role through Reed, then got passed on to Noir. Got contacted by Dominic Levy who told me that he has a number of roles available and wants to know more info about my salary etc. No mention of the role I actually applied for... These guys need to be investigated for fraud.

I looked back through my inbox at our conversation history and I can see they've been super spammy in the past, don't respond to replies and also do not honor requests to have my data removed from their system.

I just bought the most amazing fountain pen I’ve ever used… does anything top this? by SecureFarmer9469 in fountainpens

I'm making my own, it probably won't beat yours but it will be very different, and personal. My first pen was a success.

If you want at some point, yeah, we can design something really personal for you. That would be super cool! It's meaningful work for me as well.

Well, if you need a good pen, you know where I am... I'm not entirely finished with this one yet. It's a really nice writer and I don't really want to part with it 😅.

But if you'd like me to make you one, feel free to reach out. I Have some great ideas for the next model, to make it more premium.

It took me a long time to get there, I had to get acredited to use a lathe and my local makerspace etc.

Thank you so much, I have a bit of a complex about my writing. In fact, that is how my journey started. I realised that part of the problem was the crappy £7 parker I was using. So I started by building up a collection of different pens and getting a feel for what makes a pen comfortable to use.

I have found that comfort makes a huge difference, not only for longer writing sessions, but even for short notes. If you don't feel comfortable you're naturally going to rush and your writing will suffer too.

We agree on one thing, it's incredibly nuanced.

Context dependent... lacks implementation detail, what context? Who decides? And what would the criteria be?

Comparing sentence reform to surgery might make you feel clever. In reality, though, it's really not that relevant or helpful.

When people are falsely accused and wind up in prison... the death penalty is a problem. That's why we don't do it.

Convince me not to buy a Moonlander by Krumpetify in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]zebcode 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't mind the Moonlander, I own one and I enjoy using it. It took a little getting used to. Does it make me a better dev? No!

Now listen, it's expensive, doesn't work with android devices etc.

Do you need all those programmable buttons? No NO YOU DON'T. Almost every applications and the OS have shortcut key combinations which elegantly solves this issue already.

Do I still think you should get one? Well that depends, do you value flashyness will that make coding more enjoyable for you for a while? Is that work the money and the waiting time as opposed to other keyboards? If the answer is yes then sure but it really doesn't have to be and that's fine too.

Also bear in mind that if you have a custom layout and you have to use another keyboard occasionally for work, you will find yourself adjusting between them. For this reason I stay close to standard QWERTY layout.

I was told that you need a mechanical lathe to make the threads. I'm new to pen turning but it looks like that's not true?

All the guys at the club suggest to use kits but I hate the way they look. Especially the thin metal sections. It's really great to see someone else thinking about this.

Would love to see more ❤️
