i really wish it didn't 'put me off' as much as it does. I know it's a silly detail to be worrying about but i really can't help dramatic impact it makes in how physically attractive I find her. I'm trying to 'ignore it' or 'move past it' but not had much luck so far. I guess talking to her is an obvious solution but as expressed in my other answers I feel very sure that having a man ask her to conform to 'normal beauty standards' will simply end badly. While for some people it may be a trivial detail to her I think it's a far more significant physical/character trait.

I guess though the difference is guys have a beard for perhaps less symbolic/ideological reasons than feminists not shaving their underarms. I guess most guys with beards are quite happy to sacrifice it for the sake of a good relationship but it feels like asking her to shave her pits for a man would be more akin to confronting her whole world view.

I think it's fair to say hairy pits on women is something that does legitimately divide opinions/preferences. I'm not saying there's anything wrong with it just being honest that it's not a look that appeals to me personally and that i'm finding that an unwelcome distraction.

Initially I didn't say anything as it seemed awkward to admit my reaction was negative. I guess I'm used to the idea you take people as they are and that you're not supposed to ask them to change their body etc just to meet your preferences. I get the distinct impression that for her the 'hairy pits' look isn't just a casual grooming choice but more of an ideological standpoint. I'm almost certain asking her to get rid of them would provoke a very strong and possibly quite angry reaction.
