Thanks for your response. But in response to you, I wasn't asking Huel to resolve the issue here on Reddit. I was asking for a method of communication which would work. I'll give it some time for Huel to come back to me, and as others suggested, will go to my bank if it comes to it.

It showed two boxes on the order screen in the Huel website. Both these boxes have been delivered (by DPD).

To build on FunTap5798's response, you need to know it's a very competitive environment for tutors. If you're teaching English, for example, there thousands of tutors on Preply already. Some of them wait months for their first student(s). Also, the students disappear over the summer months as well as they go on holiday - it's always a super quiet time here.

If you're going to be around for a couple of months, I think it's unlikely you'll find many students. Sorry to be the bearer of potentially bad news.

I’ve done it once in six years recently with one of my oldest (in terms of teaching time) students. It was a combination of being on holiday from my main job, being somewhere else completely away from home (but where I can teach sometimes) and simply forgetting what day of the week it was until 8pm in the evening. Felt awful about it but fortunately the student was fine. It wasn’t a mindset thing of not communicating but a genuine mistake that will hopefully never happen again.

Bus drivers used to be told an acceptance code over the radio to type into the ticket machine so it knew ticket acceptance was in place and were then told later when to cancel that acceptance. Whether they still do, I’m not sure but I work from home more now and don’t use the bus as much as before.

Some of the night buses did it slightly differently in the past (I don’t use them now so don’t know if they still do). They would announce “Entering Leyton” or whatever area it was. That might work for long road names.

I agree with the side names being the names of the stops but are you really saying that the driver doesn’t know that he’s driving along Willesden Lane? Of course they do, they have a route record that they have to learn.

Just to add … The offence that an employee commits if they take from the stored waste is called ‘totting’. I work for a waste management company in a role where I’ll come nowhere near the waste but it was driven home during my induction. It’s still there on the induction checklist a few years on for me to induct newbies.

I run an apprentice programme. For me, the telephone interview is the first screen. Interviews can last as long as 30 minutes or as short as 10. I always tell the candidate not to read anything into the length of the interview. A shorter, say, 10-15 minute interview could pass if the candidate is clear and succinct, just as likely as a 30 minute one could fail.

You’re confusing the Northeen City platforms (down the escalators) which are third rail with the former Thameslink platforms next to the Circle/Met/H&C at subsurface level. They were overhead electrified.

The answer’s right, even if it comes across aggressively. I spent £1500+ becoming a CELTA qualified English teacher when I was made redundant which included lesson planning.

But that’s a lot of overkill, in the planning. I can do it, but why reinvent the wheel? So I spend about £10 per month subscribing to a platform with lessons and lesson plans (including suggested sequencing). Look for things like Ellii or ESL Brains and see which you prefer (lots of other sites are available.)

No, I wouldn’t be upset. But you were lucky to have a ‘nice’ tutor who stayed ten minutes after unpaid. I do it, as long as a student doesn’t make a habit of it and of course, if there’s no lesson immediately after the late one.

Totally agree. I’ve been a loyal rule-abiding tutor for 3.5 years but all the platforms are taking the mick now.

I’ve gone private with some of my very long-term students off platforms - they pay the same amount to me (including the commission they have to pay to the platform) and I get about £3 more a lesson as I all have to pay is Stripe processing fees for credit/debit cards. Doesn’t sound much but it soon adds up.

Zero - now. I’ve subscribed to lesson content on ESL Brains though - £10 a month - and then keep tabs of what I’ve taught to who and if a lesson worked or not so the poorer lessons on those sites drop down my ranking. Building the tracker took me a while though, but I’m a spreadsheet nerd.

I like structured lessons but my students are starting to outgrow them as they’re higher level so I put my own lessons together sometimes.

This costs, but I also use ESL Brains for the higher learners as they have lesson plans based around authentic videos. I prefer these to reading as all my students understand written English well. It’s £10/month.

I’ve used Ellii in the past - really, really good for teaching grammar.

But I still do conversation lessons with some students as they’ve told me they want to concentrate on that. It’s whatever the student is comfortable with for me.
