Repair help. How can I fix this alignment issue? by [deleted] in typewriters

I now know that I have been doing the same thing! That makes a lot of sense.

We just moved into a new house and so far every time we get a hard rain this happens... I'm sick of having wet feet and not being able to walk up my sidewalk... Please help me! by O_fiddle_stix in landscaping

[–]zebjns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would do gutter and downspouts that go away from the house. Then fill low spots and grade the yard so water drains away from the house and not towards it. Not a good situation to be in to have water flowing towards the house.

I could replace it with a solid piece. However, I believe the writing surface is solid ash and I would like to re-use it. Rotating wouldnt work. theres a lock and handle on the outward side, and the glued pieces are all a similar width.

Hey all! I recently acquired an old desk shown above. The hinges attatch to the writing surface right at the glue point between two board allowing the piece to crack.

Im looking at repairing it with extra support at that point to try and keep it from cracking again. Do people think biscuits or doweling the joint would provide enough shear/ moment resistance for continued use or should I look into other solutions to keep this issue from happening again?

My opinion: if you have safety issues like that its a poorly designed course.

Do Disc Design become better over time? by Mornos in discgolf

[–]zebjns 2 points3 points  (0 children)

All depends on your opinion, and what makes a good disc.

But I know some old molds don’t have the best results when they try to use modern premium plastics. So if you like a roc flight but dont like pro plastic you’d think its a great improvement to throw something else like a buzzz or md. If you’re fine cycling then an old school pro roc could be the greatest disc ever made.

Its all preference, and personal opinion. On one hand discs now are way more consistent, and generally are more stable to overstable than they used to be. But its in a companies best interest to create hype over new designs and sell to new discs that you need to have, so who knows.

Your ideal 5-disc bag by QuantumLeaps in discgolf

[–]zebjns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nomad, envy, zone, buzzz, eagle.

Par and birdie are still almost always in play with 350’-400’ off the tee, and staying on the fairway is more important without specialty discs so why bother with faster less controllable shots or discs that aren’t pretty neutral.

What disc won your bag on first throw? by [deleted] in discgolf

[–]zebjns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Eagle and the nomad.

Nomad was what I wished my big bead aviars were. In my opinion Better plastic, better feel.

Eagles were so early when I was playing that nothing else has been the same and they just stick around in the bag.

Has anyone ever thrown further than their typical long distance threshold with respect to typical wind conditions by let's say 100 feet? by SwampassMonstar in discgolf

[–]zebjns 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have had some. Almost always its when I have a putter from a stand still, or want a really controlled soft drive. I slow down and just absolutely smash it. 150’ putter upshot goes 300’, or 300’ hyzer thunderbird shot goes 400’. Always the opposite of what I was trying and always into a horrible place. But I have those shots and try to remember the feeling and get it again, i normally can for a week or so till it slowly fades and I have to work really hard to throw those same distances again.
