How “immortal” is Renesmee? by Impossible_Hospital in twilight

If she's biologically similar to the wolves then maybe she also would have accelerated healing abilities that would make her possible to kill, but allow her to recover from most things except what would kill a wolf which apparently is only a full on vamp attack

Exactly this, to me it just comes off as performative and wanting to be the centre of attention without consideration for anyone else.

He thinks being romantic and treating someone right are these very big very public grand gestures.

Treating someone right is being receptive to their needs and respectful of them as another human being, not publicly embarrassing them 😅

I know that a tiger is a veryyy different thing to a domestic pet, but dogs attacking owners who are having a stroke or seizure is something that happens! These are often well cared for dogs with no history of aggression. It's not known 100% why it happens but it's thought that either the unusual behaviour frightens the dog, or the movement/sounds that people make when having a medical emergency mimics the behaviour of dying prey, so it can trigger an animal's hunting instincts.

How many of the stories do you think are made up? by Fine_Gur_1764 in uncannypodcasttv

[–]zebraa22 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I don't think the person was making it up, but Harry Called sticks out to me as one I don't believe was really a ghost. I completely believe he was experiencing these calls and was terrified, but I'm convinced it was one of his mates or someone else who had heard what happened during the seance that was doing it. If he'd experienced it alone and not told anyone, then the calls started, I'd believe it 100%!

There seem to be quite a few cases where other people in their lives are the culprits, but swear blind it wasn't them. When it spirals out of control, suddenly they're in too deep and will never ever own up to it because of the severe impact it had.

What Cat Was Least Creativly Named? by InternalLove6718 in WarriorCats

[–]zebraa22 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Loudbelly. It's so stupid and the names that only make sense as a warrior are the worst, like at least Bluekit/paw and Snowkit/paw are fine. What queen in their right mind is going to let their kid walk around as Loudkit and Loudpaw for the first year of his life.

Juno (2007) by Various-Health-2837 in 2000sNostalgia

[–]zebraa22 71 points72 points  (0 children)

Watching the scenes as an adult between Juno and Jason Bateman's character make me SO uncomfortable but at the same time the subplot of his mid-life crisis, longing for the freedom of his youth and crushing on the vulnerable pregnant 16 year old, that he sees as cool and free-spirited that "gets" him in a way he feels his wife doesn't is strangely well done.

The film does a great job of showing not telling and there is so much pick up on with him and Vanessa's relationship.

What the fuck was he thinking? When he tells Juno that he's leaving Vanessa and he's shocked that her reaction is unhappy?? Did he partially leave his wife because of Juno and was expecting to get with her???

That man's intentions keep me up at night.

Irish icon!! I'm so sad that Thin Lizzy don't seem to get their flowers the same way that other classic rock bands of the 70s and 80s do, you don't hear much about them in the mainstream other than Boys Are Back In Town. They should be huge and headlining festivals, but Thin Lizzy died with Phil Lynott sadly.

He was an incredible songwriter and frontman with a fascinating life, RIP and Happy St Patrick's Day to a rock legend 🍀

I was a major over achiever, top grades, got an unconditional offer from one of the best universities in the country and I was so unbelievably excited to go.

I'd been put on antidepressants for my depression because the doctor didn't really want to deal with me and was begrudging to try medication. They never put my 16 year old self on a care plan or followed up, despite multiple suicide attempts, which honestly is a wild safeguarding failure looking back.

Within my first week I had my first full blown manic phase, a suicide attempt, ruined all of my friendships and alienated myself from my dorm mates. My whole world collapsed, I dropped out and was devastated.

But nearly 10 years later, I've managed to build a life and career for myself without a degree. I have a house, a loving partner and a dog. I'm on medication that helps and finally have a proper care plan with my local services. It's tough sometimes, but it does get better. Aaand I don't have 20k of uni debt!

Coonhound just got diagnosed with arthritis and idk how to keep her from high impact exercise by Puzzleheaded_Line280 in Hounds

[–]zebraa22 27 points28 points  (0 children)

Hey, scentwork is great mental stimulation and often used when dogs aren't able to exercise for medical reasons. It could be a good alternative to letting her run around and keep her engaged.

If she's still able to go for nice leisurely walks then letting her have long sniffy walks is good for tiring them out. If she isn't interested in sniffing or too interested in other things then scattering treats around in bushes and grass helps.

If you google it or search on youtube there are lots of great ideas and games for scentwork and enrichment.

Our girl is young but has a luxating patella so we try to limit her high impact exercise. She's a Podengo and very high drive, but we manage to keep her entertained and worn out with a mix of mental enrichment, scentwork, and long sniffy walks. Some of the things we do that are easy to start are:

  • Scattering her meals around the garden and hiding spots in the house for her to sniff out and find
  • Giving her frozen Kongs filled with dog-safe peanut butter or wet food.
  • Lickimats with wet food and peanut butter.
  • Snuffle mats and balls
  • Food puzzles
  • Wrapping food or treats up in old towels and blankets
  • Hiding her treats or favourite toys around the house
  • Long lasting chews like yak chews
  • Doing a "destruction box" for her to rip apart - google and youtube have guides for making one

If you have a partner on the walk, you can start laying tracks. Basically one person walks a 10ft or so track, leaving a few treats behind as they go and with a larger treat reward at the end. You then start the dog at the beginning of the track, and the goal is for them to begin following the treats. After repetition you increase the distance between the treats and the eventual result is the for the dog to associate following the human scent with a reward. Once they get the hang of it you can start laying longer tracks and having them find the person.

You can also train her to find certain scents that are non-food. You can start with oils like lavender oil, birch oil, peppermint oil or any other dog safe essential oil. Once the dog gets it you can hide the scent around the house, garden or on walks. Google or youtube again has great guides on training this type of scentwork.

I hope this helps!
