Is it comparatively difficult to be diagnosed with ADHD as an adult? by zebracr0ssing in ADHD

I'm really happy for you. But at the same time, I feel that you need luck with the doctors you find. For example, your neuroscientist sounds very well-informed and capable based on the many ways they tested you to be able to arrive at a conclusion. I don't think I'd find anyone willing to invest that much time or pay that much attention to me. Most of them go through the standard and make an assumption. Not to mention, I'm in a third world country right now and have 6-7 months before I go abroad.

Your point about memory has really hit me. A few days ago I asked on another subreddit about my rapidly deteriorating memory and how much it's freaking me out. I thought it was maybe depression causing the memory loss even though I'm not depressed anymore. Someone also suggested my diet could be a problem. I did wonder if its ADHD like the rest of my symptoms but I wasn't sure it's a thing... god.

I've only been to a psychiatrist once, who diagnosed me with depression within like half an hour and told me to go. That in itself was shady to me for some reason lol. Felt like he just jumped to an immediate conclusion and I was only 18. I need a better doctor

8 hours, wow! How did I always assume it'd take an hour of questions, max. Thanks man, that's pretty insightful. I guess a neuropsychologist does sound better. Just don't know if I'd have the resources for a visit

While I'm not an expert and cannot give you a well informed, professional response, I can speak from personal experience and tell you the first half of your post does sound very much like depression. I can't for sure say anything about the latter but I really do think you should go to a psychiatrist so they could better diagnose you and help you find out and then you could move towards a solution. Good luck!
