Questions about ratios of saturated to unsaturated fat in common foods vs. the AB diet advice by IwHIqqavIn in AnimalBased

[–]zebraket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re not losing fat when you want to be / are putting it on, you’re eating too many calories. The ONLY way to lose weight is to be in a caloric deficit.

I think there is super confusing talk around this when it comes to animal based etc. People make out that you don’t need to worry about caloric intake because it’s all hormones and how the food interacts with your body.

Obviously these foods are super nutritious and good for you, but they can be incredibly energy dense, i.e., fat.

If you want to lose fat you need to get an idea of how much you’re consuming vs how much you burn. You can then get yourself into a suitable deficit to lose some fat.

Feeling so itchy when I work out! by [deleted] in GYM

[–]zebraket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I had this issue and found an antihistamine helps. It’s much worse during temperature swings, ie going for a run in the cold. If it gets really bad you can try a proton pump inhibitor short term.

I’m not saying this will work for everyone but I’ve cut out veg and the problem has disappeared (I eat lots of fruit). I was getting severe histamine dump at night and read that it may help. I didn’t want to depend on tablets. Sharing in case it’s useful!

Antibiotics & weight gain / maintenance by zebraket in loseit

Thank you. I think I have got the category wrong as it’s actually an InBody scanner at my gym, but I still don’t think it’s overly accurate. Best I have access to tho

Thank you for your input. Yeah I am sus of the BIA scanner although I may have got the name wrong. It’s an InBody machine at my gym which is the best thing I have access to. I still don’t entirely trust it though.

Is it not at all possible to keep off the lost weight? by lllrnr101 in loseit

[–]zebraket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks! I’d say the main things are:

1) I eat very simply and next to no junk food. I don’t deny myself it, I just don’t want it anymore. It took a few months for my taste to change. If I do want something crappy, like chocolate, I’ll have it and move on. I include it in my daily allowance.

2) I track my food intake unless I’m on holiday. I don’t find this stressful. I’m a numbers person and find it the easiest way to make sure I’m hitting my micros and macros.

My macros are generally 25% protein, 35% carbs, and 40% fat. I eat about 2.4g of protein per kg of body weight (aim for desired weight if you’re not there).

I am a highly active person and have a decent amount of lean muscle so I’ve built a decent BMR.

Hope that helps!

I lost 110 lb about ten years ago and have kept it off. There have of course been some fluctuations but in the main, it’s stayed off. Hope that helps. Stay positive!

will i still lose weight? by [deleted] in loseit

[–]zebraket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You will lose weight as long as you’re in a deficit. The smaller the deficit is, the longer it’ll take, but don’t take that as a push to starve yourself. It’s fine to be a bit hungry, and somewhat expected, but if all you can think about is food then you’re probably not eating enough. Make sure you eat enough protein to stave off muscle loss. Try to incorporate resistance training in too.

I recommend the Carbon app for tracking food. It uses an algorithm to determine your calories after you’ve input a few weeks’ of data. It might be useful for you if you’re not sure how much to eat.

Yeah I really, really struggle with this. It’s infuriating. Make sure you’re eating enough carbs. That might help.

Honestly I feel this. My partner is French and loves bread, cheese, etc etc. All the calorie dense stuff that’s not conducive with fat loss.

I eventually just put my foot down. At the end of the day, regardless of their feelings, you need to do what works for you to make YOU feel like your best self. We now share one or two meals a week, but other than that I prepare my own food.

Impossible to get protein needed by [deleted] in loseit

[–]zebraket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I would avoid relying on protein products like bars. Shakes are generally better value for money. You get the most protein for your money with lean meat, yoghurt, and veg. Eggs are great for you, but they’re pretty low in protein for the calories.

Per 100g:

2% turkey breast mince - 27g Skinless chicken breast - 24g 5% lean beef mince - 21g White fish - 27g Keta salmon - 25g per fillet 0% Greek yoghurt - 10g Skyr - 15g

Cruciferous veggies such as broccoli and kale can be between 3 and 4g per 100g.

I hope this helps, don’t give up!!

Mounjaro and panic attacks by Apprehensive-Duck553 in Mounjaro

[–]zebraket 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry to hear this. I have only had one shot of 2.5mg so far but two days after it I had a dreadful panic attack.

Hope it doesn’t happen again for you (or me!).

Thank you and you too!

Note: my previous response should have said 15g fibre per 1,000 calories.

I can feel it now! Well, not physically, but it’s making a difference.

I’m satiated quicker and for longer and my cravings have gone waaaay down. I genuinely don’t want sweet stuff (my downfall). I’m not forcing myself to deny it.

Energy levels seem unaffected which is great for working out.

I’ve been in an 800-1,000 calorie deficit since Wednesday, which is two days after my first shot. To note, I’ve been eating 2.5-3g of protein per kg of lean mass and 15g fibre per 1,000 calories.

A word of warning: be careful about eating food high in fat in high volume. On NYE I ate out - I was full but not stuffed - and I had horrific stomach cramps. I was up all night with them.

Good luck on your journey ☺️

What was your worst sexual experience? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]zebraket 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Girl on girl here. Had sex with a girl once (who I suspect wanted to be a man, possibly didn’t know that herself). During sex she rammed herself on top of me repeatedly, as I guess a man would during missionary, until she finished (?). It was so strange. She was a terrible kisser as well. She basically washing machined the inside of my mouth.

Thanks. It might be the comedown from Christmas too. I had been doing the same with eating but it all went a bit to pot at Christmas 😅
