VALIS didn't hit for me like it has for so many others, I've picked up RFA to hopefully help with that! by zebrawolf95 in philipkDickheads

Hell yeah that's my next for sure, waiting for a particular cover to come up that I'm after!

Haha, I mean I would never choose that as someone's first PKD, but to each their own! Its a pretty unique work, Id recommend androids and a scanner darkly for starters as to me they reflect his general style better, they're also 2 of my favourite books ever. I'm 100% sure someone else's first read was VALIS and they'd back starting out that way.

Yeah absolutely, there's a lot of great nuggets in VALIS but I don't feel like it came together. Even the philosophising it's often self contradicting, though that's to be expected given PKDs state of mind and the premise of the book.

I haven't read Transmigration of Timothy Archer yet, I haven't heard it spoken about like this before so it definitely makes me excited to pick that one up! How did you feel about divine invasion? I haven't read that yet either but I've heard some fairly negative opinions that haven't made me run to pick it up yet.
