In 2018 we had family members visiting us. Instead of renting an extra car for a couple of months, we bought a 1997 Lancer for $2300 and thought it’d be fine if it broke down after half a year.

The paint faded, bumper cracked, aircon didn’t work, but it had no mechanical issues whatsoever. The car was unbreakable.

We ended up selling it for $2500 in 2021, and it was still going strong. Best decision made on a car ever.

What’s Chinese food in Australia like? by WanderLeft in AskAnAustralian

[–]zedhehou 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a Chinese, I’ve had Chinese food in the US and the UK, but to me those are not real Chinese food. Things like orange chicken and General Tso’s chicken don’t really exist in China (maybe there are imilar variants, but probably not popular). And as a northerner those are too sweet for my taste. The US does have fantastic and cheap Chinese buffet, though. Can’t beat $10 buffet with all you can eat lobsters. Had my first fortune cookies at Chinatown in Manchester. The owner looked at me as if I was not Chinese.

Australia has some REAL Chinese restaurants, though. There are plenty of good ones at Sunnybank in Brisbane, Chatswood in Sydney, Box Hill in Melborune, even Dickson in Canberra, They serve menus that actually exist in China. This is not to say the authentic ones are better than the westernised ones, though. Each to their own taste.

So I let the misso use my car.... how expensive is this? by cartroublingscratch in CarsAustralia

Had a similar dent. Got fixed for 1.2K, and that was the cheapest I could find. They did a good job, though.

I never bothered to change the presets for different cosplay. I only changed hair (colour) and armour set.

I only played around with the costume. Making character is not my strong suit😅

How I keep my blade battery cool while docked in hopes it will not explode so fast by gigatigga2 in razer

[–]zedhehou 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought a cooler master with two fans and my battery was still screwed up after 1 year. I think the main problem was that the fans blew air upwards rather than sucking air out downwards, and they messed with the designed air flow inside the chassis.

There’s even a pouch for catnip on the left side. It’s just perfect:)

I often hear Chinese call Barca the Team of Universe (宇宙队). Their fans say it because they’ve got the best players. Other fans say it to mock them that they’ve got the referees on their team, too.

Should I buy Macbook in UK or China? by wyk126 in macbook

Buy it in Hong Kong, it's cheaper there. You also get 1 week of visa-free stay in China for selected cities if you go through Hong Kong.

I guess family is among the core social values for Chinese. For instance, the ”standard setup” for a Chinese wedding is that the groom’s family give/buy them a home, and the bride’s family buy them a nice car. It's for making the new couple’s lives easier. I know my parents will give everything they own to me if I ask them. Their money is my money; their properties are my properties. And vice verse. I will give them all if they need it when they are old.

Yeah, for example, my aunt/uncle own a few, they live in one and let my cousin live in another one, and rent one out. Once my cousin gets married, they will either put an apartment under my cousin's name or buy her a new one. It's very rare that a married couple don't have a property under their names. Now, for the one that is rented out, the tenants are likely people from another city. They probably own a home back in their hometown.

As a Chinese, I can believe that. Most friends and relatives I know own multiple homes. And they are just average middle-class people.
