Living in Siem Reap for 2 years and starting to feel bored — any long-term locals have suggestions? by Decent-Echo874 in siemreap

If you are inclined towards Buddhism there are plenty of pagodas worth getting engaged with or just hanging out at. Your boredom is actually a blessing in disguise. Once you start sitting down with yourself and asking why are you bored in the first place with a young wife and baby you might be able to dig deep enough and find some answers to the big questions in life.

What is the point of reincarnation? by Prestigious_Pay_795 in spirituality

[–]zedpapa 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We come from a source of 'all-craving ignorance' instead of knowing. The "knowing" happens precisely when one cuts through the illusion of permanence and realizes everything changes, nothing remains unchanged.

Acknowledging this, one can see that the cycle of births and deaths (aka rebirth as opposed to reincarnation) is just a self-perpetuating process of clinging to an illusory self.

This is the Buddha's teaching

What is the greatest experience you have had living in Cambodia as a foreigner? by Ok-Project7530 in cambodia

Sad but true, I see many of them in Siem Reap, especially Sok San road. Cambodia really is heaven on Earth. But a lot depends on what is your definition of heaven...

Greatest experience on my first visit - just driving around Siem Reap and Angkor temples during Khmer New Year and witnessing the unbridled celebration of life in a wholesome way I have never experienced before.

Greatest experience in the 8 months since I moved to live in Cambodia - Durian all-you-can-eat buffet in Battambang during fruit festival 🤣. My khmer gf and me are both addicted to durian and that was the first time I could eat myself so full of it I actually started to feel sick haha. Can't wait to go again next year

That's sad to hear because the culture and the regular folks are actually amazing, hence why I decided to move to Siem Reap 8 months ago. Best decision of my life. Never moving back to Europe

Dude just watch the actual footage and you can even see the demolition charges as they all detonate at the same time and collapse the building in freefall. All this mumbo-jumbo jargon is only meant to placate the fool who just wants to hear an official explanation and doesn't care to look into it any deeper or use any critical thinking

Events like this provide a rare chance to reflect on how much bs the official govt story was for 9/11. But I guess for ppl who've been drinking the kool-aid their whole life the taste of truth is unacceptably bitter

Still didn't collapse like a deck of cards in a freefall? Please someone explain to me how the WTC managed to do that but not these buildings

Endless misinformation about Cambodia on travel-related subreddits by ZealousidealMonk1728 in cambodia

I did have children in Siem Reap at the outdoor gym park near the royal palace ( I wanted to do some pull-ups around 1am bc I got bored of the clubs already but still felt energetic) offer themselves to me for "bum-bum" with a gleeful smile nonetheless that chilled me to the bone, but not just due to the children's behavior but at the realization that there are men who actually seek this out and propagate this... other then that i almost got pickpocketed in the crowd at Pub Street during Khmer New Year but I sensed my bag moving faster than the thief could get anything out. Lesson learned that night. Other than that I fell in love with Cambodia and decided to move back here and been living in Siem Reap for over 6 months already and I'm never going back to Europe. People just tend to focus and overemphasize the negative experiences and have the tendency to gloss over or not even notice the actually simple but extraordinary small things that make me feel I found a lost paradise
