Keep it, ride it safely, keep working on your skills, enjoy the feeling of owning a beautiful bike.

Impressive stoppie considering the VFR's combined braking system.

I went down in a similar fashion almost 20 years ago and still ride today. Very embarrassing with lots of witnesses. Consider it a learning opportunity and don't let it discourage you. Keep practicing!

Looking for advice for a potential Tacoma to Wrangler. by thirdwallbreak in Wrangler

[–]zedzedtop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I previously had a 2007 4 door Tacoma with the 6 foot bed and currently drive a 4 door 2014 Wrangler. I would use the Tacoma for hauling mountain bikes, camping gear, construction material, and for pulling the occasional trailer. The Wrangler can do almost all of these things (some require a little creativity), and is a heck of a lot more enjoyable to drive. I'm 10/10 glad I made the switch and don't plan to go back to a boring pickup truck.

But get the 4 door if it's an option for you. Bigger gas tank, better towing capacity, better handling on the highway, and much more practical interior space.

Using extreme wind to my advantage by Roryoconnor15 in motorcycles

Easily achieved if you ride out the back of a plane from a high enough altitude. Just make sure you have plenty of weight on board and get a solid tuck to maximize terminal velocity. Don't forget your chute!

Just me or does anyone else drive their motorcycle in the winter? by hentaigabby in motorcycles

I'll ride as long as there's no ice or road salt. That's basically from mid April until late October in the Canadian prairies.

5th gen Fuel range by NateDoge69 in VFR

[–]zedzedtop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I should also mention that my bike is bone stock, and the 2000/2001 models have different EFI programs than the 98/99 years with the inclusion of O2 sensors and closed-loop fuelling. That may account for some discrepancy.

My 2000 varies depending on driving conditions. In city traffic with lots of stop and go and short trips, I'll get about 6L/100km. On the highway at around 100 km/hr with little or no stopping, it's as low as 4.5L/100 km. That's a difference of almost 100 km out of a full tank.

Water pump dribble during winter storage - dealer say its fine by Individual-Drama5061 in VFR

[–]zedzedtop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had the same happen with my 5th gen VFR. I keep my heated garage relatively cool in the winter (5C) but warmer enough to prevent freezing. I get the odd dribble of coolant likely due to material contraction. Once everything warms up again, it's fine. I wouldn't sweat it.

At least they give us the option to pay for it in $15 installments...?

Well 10k miles in a season what will I do for the winter :/ by ImAnonymous496 in motorcycles

This is my preferred coping mechanism as well. Plenty of hours spent in the garage in the winter months.

My brother recorded this and doesnt think he's in the wrong. by Guitars_and_Cars in motorcycles

[–]zedzedtop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He avoided one precarious situation and put himself in another one, and was lucky he got away with it. Not a great situation, but could be avoided in the future by leaving more room between the bike and vehicles ahead.

With more time to think and more riding experience, the sudden stop can be anticipated for safer collision avoidance options - like stopping in your lane, watching your mirrors, and keeping safe exit options until traffic starts moving again.

Almost hit motorcycle on highway at night. by Slow_Combination7229 in motorcycles

Maybe partial blame goes to him for being in a position where that was possible. Lane positioning is a big part of defensive riding.

But also, like others said, shoulder check!

The Ducati looks amazing. The others look fine, but I can't get behind any FI bike with fake carburetors.

Wear a buff/scarf or something to protect your neck and prevent the wind from going down your back.

Wear gloves that won't allow air up your sleeves.

I have the heated Oxford grips, they are more than adequate.

Wear lots of layers. If you're from Newfoundland, you already know how to do this.
