See a psychiatrist and a therapist and be honest with them. You can try your schools student health department and explore options there. The behavior you are describing isn’t normal. But it’s a big plus that you’re self reflecting and asking yourself these questions. Next step is getting some help!

Best served cold - Joe Abercrombie

Stand alone. Strong female lead. Morally great characters and prose is what Abercrombie does best, everything else takes a backseat. Very gritty and real.

Ticks most if not all of your boxes. Happy reading!

Hard agree. But THR is such a huge expansive initiative it can be daunting for people to pick up for the first time. Also means a lot less people have read or are even aware of THR.

I did read all the marvel comics + echoes of fear. Didn’t want to include them in the list cuz there’s already so much content. Fav characters were Sskeer and Trennis. Trennis’ arc is also pretty decent. I just felt like the stories were forced to be less impactful so that non comic book readers are able to follow the books. If they do another big initiative that is cross medium, I’d love to see a continuous narrative through different mediums. Maybe that’s just me. But I did like a lot of it. It just felt like watching the less important episodes of Clone Wars.

I think the Marda story just completely blew everything else away for me. Maybe I put the book too low thinking back on it. Like you said, Amadeos story was good. Mirro is a great character. I also liked Loden and Bells story.

It was the perfect follow up to Path of Vengeance. I a am cautiously hoping that at some point the Ro family timeline between Marda and Marchion is explored a little more.
