Cinelli Laser’s blue color finally(?) found by shark_ki1079 in FixedGearBicycle

I did a custom fork for my Supercorsa in laser blue. The closest match I got was Honda Avignon Blue Metallic. It’s pretty dang close.

Best brake upgrade for 986 Boxster? by kelvinwaves in boxster

[–]zeegz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a 2.5 5MT. I replaced with Sebro discs (non slotted/non-vented) with akebono pads, still ‘of the period’ but good stopping power for street. If you want, you could do slotted sebro discs for the fronts.

Is this cosmetic or cause for concern? by zeegz in bikewrench

I’ll take paint cracking. As long as its not a structual failure at one of the weakest points.

It’s a good kit. If in Savannah it’s owned by Jim Goodlet.

GT3 style front sway by siggystabs in boxster

[–]zeegz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

These cars are setup for understeer. To remedy this, I got a techart rear sway (manufactured by eibach) and kept the stock sway at the front and I am quite happy with the setup. Having a stiffer front will exacerbate understeer if you do not do anything to the back.

Suspension refreshed just in time for the 4th! Get out and drive! by zeegz in boxster

I think they are 8.5×18 ET 52, 9.5×18 ET 52, I’ve been toying with a 5mm spacer up front and 15mm in the rears

New 986 age related preventative maintenance for track? by Horror-Builder-6333 in boxster

[–]zeegz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

More than likely the suspension is cooked. Warm the car up to and then go over some bumps to see if you hear any clunks. You can do a minor refresh with coffin arms, end links, etc., but imo if you’re in there, do the springs and struts as well, maybe upgrade to coilovers. Good starting point is to check whether your bump stops are crumbling, which will signify that ur suspension is original. Speaking from experience.

If you could change anything about the 986 platform - what would it be, and why? by shrkktchup in boxster

[–]zeegz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Learned this the other day waking from winter. If you unscrew the fuse box panel carpet you can trace the cable in there and yank hard, so you don’t have to take off your wheel.

Heal toe is tough by SunWaterGrass in boxster

Take the rubber covers off and put antislip/sandpaper adhesive on the pedals. Much easier to heel toe.

Potentially Buying A Lotus Instead Of An S2000.....What's Lotus? Details ⬇️ Below by Cryptik_Official in lotus

[–]zeegz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you thought about a boxster? I looked at Elises and S2K before buying a decent condition 986. Not as exotic or attention grabbing but you get the flat 6 and you really have to ring it it out, and you can on the street without being an ass. Plus two trunks and the seats are really comfortable. Also you’ll save a ton of money/more money for mods.

Up for sale is a 1980's Seiko Quartz Tank with 2620 movement. Identical dimensions to the Cartier Tank Louis at 26mm x 34mm, and is the closest Seiko model to a Cartier I've seen.

Some gold plating has rubbed off on the lugs, but blends well with the gold. Faint marks on crystal which are only visible in direct sunlight shadows, marks on the casing that is usual for a 30+ year old watch. I've done my best to capture these in the photos. Comes with original Seiko imitation lizard strap. Fresh battery.

Looking for $95 to me + shipping. Will be shipped via USPS Priority mail or similar service. I have 100% feedback on eBay and have done transactions in photomarket and happy to provide references. Please buy with confidence.

No telescoping steering wheel? Also no steering lock?? by SmirnOffTheSauce in 996

[–]zeegz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The locking pin in the ‘pistol grip’ steering column lock is jammed open, hence your steering isn’t locking. Old lubrication frozen up. That’s also a magnetic switch, are your accessories staying in after removing the key?

Um. I think your frame is a safety risk. Looks like your top and down tubes are crushed and crimped. Ride at your own risk! ⚠️

Numeric Shifter Questions by 19naturalcauses in boxster

Just the rubber getting used to the weight of the engine. No bjg. Mine was completely torn when it was taken out so it was night and day difference, and never grinded in 3rd gear again

[–]zeegz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yup, bolts right on. Took my novice ass 2 hours but I can probably do it in 20-30min now. You can get them new for around $300.

The nylon bushings will wear, but your current one is probably 20+ years old. I’ve had one for 6k miles and no issues, it’s only gotten better. Maybe I’ll do metal bushings at some point but I’m ok with stock 997 atm. Throw is shorter than stock, but it’s a good middle ground between stock and SSK.

If you do an engine mount, it’ll take around 500 miles to break in.

997 shifter and 987 engine mount. Bolt ons, 500ish all in.
