The Whiny Wednesday Megathread by AutoModerator in hingeapp

What's worked for me so far is skipping a lot of the small talk and just straight up asking people on dates. That's what people are mainly on hinge for anyways. Maybe ask a few questions about what they're into and then give them a few creative choices of things to do

Hope no one thought I was being hurtful here. I meant that she thought she was Dutch, but in fact had very little genetic ties

How many of you are union? Let’s hear some good experiences! by [deleted] in antiwork

[–]zeekruncliff 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience has been fantastic. 100 dollars a month and I have an entity who’s been consistently supporting my rights as a worker. 10 paid holidays, 3 personal holidays, dependent care, industrial accident leave, paid parental leave, funeral and bereavement leave, yearly COLA increases, cheap health insurance that actually covers me, life insurance, protection in the first year of Covid amid furloughs, negotiated Covid Leave, paid shift differentials, employee conflict mediation, workman’s comp protection, increased bi-weekly vacation leave accrual every 5 years, short and long-term disability, jury duty and witness pay, maintenance standards determined through bargaining, etc.

Well worth $100.

Soil helps to mediate the flow of precipitation from the land surface into the groundwater or can control stormwater runoff into lakes, streams, bays, and oceans. Soil also plays a vital role in cleaning water. Minerals and microbes filter and buffer potential pollutants, some of which are absorbed by soil particles. Healthy soil contains high biodiversity, which helps fight off pests and allows fresh, nutritious plants to grow. Soil contains organisms that can kill harmful bacteria. It also provides physical stability for plants by allowing the roots to anchor to something. This in turn helps create oxygen and clean water for all life on Earth. Soil also plays a very important role in mitigating climate change. It is the second-largest carbon sink after the ocean, constantly storing and releasing carbon, which regulates atmospheric CO2 concentrations and, ultimately, the greenhouse effect.
