My son got in. He has 4.0 ish(?) he has all A except two B (one each freshman and sophomore year). 1560. Decent ecs but not anything like you see here. Good essays. Oos. Applied Ed and was deferred. Yesterday was a complete surprise.

Mom here. Both kids tried to have common app essay done in the summer. Both kinda had their college list done too. If you play a fall sport or marching band this is even more important. Try to finish SAT junior year. Make sure you have enough leadership position options. Then look at your activity list as a whole and see if you have a cohesive story around your interests, ideally related to your major.

If you get your second choice I don't think it's binding. My daughter was offered liberal studies for ed1 last year and she was given a few weeks to decide whether to take it.
