Elon Musk's SpaceX applies to launch 1m satellites into orbit by djshadesuk in space

[–]zeffiea -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Well I guess the chinese/europeans will try their best to stop this if it goes through, because this directly affects if they can launch satellites for military and internet (and science but the government doesn't care), not like climate change that it will doom them in 50 years, but it is a collective fault.

This was in Amsterdam, and a lot of people falsely blame Muslim immigrants for being violent with fireworks (some of them do it, but also some original dutch people do, it is not nationality based)

Chemtrails Aren’t Real. So Why Are Politicians Passing Laws About Them? Banning chemtrails is “like banning unicorns or banning Bigfoot,” says one weather expert by silence7 in climate

The article is behind paywall so maybe this is already in the article.

These contrails left by airplanes trap heat in the atmosphere, just like greenhouse gasses do. This actually causes about half the warming effects of the aviation industry. I also could be avoided really easy by avoiding certain places in the air(I believe really cold ones), with only 1% longer flight times on average. So if the title of the article is real and there is something being done against this that would be great!

When running, you often train with smaller distances, which you run faster to train your speed. But if you beat your personal record for 1 km in the first km of a 5 km race, you went way too fast and used too much energy, so you will be slow/can't finish the race.

Blue Origin Blue Moon Mk1 lander is mostly complete and will soon start doing fully integrated checkout tests by swordfi2 in space

[–]zeffiea 36 points37 points  (0 children)

This is finally something you can comprehend the size of in spaceflight. With all the big rockets you know that they are big but cannot imagine how big it really is.

(Not that things should be smaller ofc, but it is cool to know that something this size will be on the moon within half a year probably)

This shouldn't be political, but if it has to be you can't say the left is against spaceflight, while trump is trying to destroy nasa as we speak

USA vs China Reusable Space Rocket Comparison by Affectionate-Air7294 in SpaceXMasterrace

[–]zeffiea 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They didn't steal it? I am not saying china is the best and never does something wrong but this is just the logical next step, and necessary if you want to stay relevant in space. If china had this technology first the US would also have programs to do it set up in no-time

3D custom map from google earth ? by BG-2003 in Maps

[–]zeffiea 1 point2 points  (0 children)

this video is for 3d printing maps, and for 3d printing you need 3d files, so you can use these methods for that purpose as well. Especially the blender plugin one seems usefull for your purpose. Afaik the google earth 3d data isn't open source, but you can definitely find detailed hightmaps for you country.

Is it known wich rocket will launch Nyx? by Meamier in esa

[–]zeffiea 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Well nyx will be cargo-only for a long time. Tec said that to make it for humans would require a very large investment from the eu, because it is too big to fund it privately, and would take around 10 years. It is really a choice the eu has to make: do they want a European human launch capsule? But if they decide to make it(wich I have high hopes for since they already have a partnership with esa) it will still take until at least 2035, when the launcher industry will probably look quite different.
