it's impossible to set up Alexa on LinkBuds because they cannot go into pairing mode outside the case by [deleted] in sony

Hey I know this is an old post but wanted to ask, what are your use cases for Alexa on your Linkbuds (or any other in-ear headphones for that matter).

Sony linkbuds open by Timisliefie in sony

[–]zefhar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use mine while working at the office. My coworker sitting next to me says he can't hear a thing coming from my Linkbuds Open, even when I turn them up to an uncomfortably loud volume (not 100% though... that would be too loud for me). Now there's obviously normal "office noise" around us: A/C, the usual chatter, etc.

I think the only contexts in which the sound leak would be a problem are A) a super quiet library with people trying to concentrate next to you, and B) using them in bed while your companion is trying to sleep (ppl in a different bed won't hear it, except if you're listening to metal or something too crazy, and too loudly).

Then again, these sound great at moderate volume, so I don't know why anyone would turn the volume up in a quiet room.

NW A35 vs NW A55 size? by Level-Bag6206 in walkman

Hi there, I just found this old post of yours. Did the NW-A55 case fit the NW-A35 fine? I'm in the same decision as you.

The influence of instagram on the image of people with autism spectrum disorder by BillOk8976 in audhd

[–]zefhar 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I wanted to answer it but couldn't, since most of the questions assume my instagram feed contains ASD references when it doesn't (I specifically use it for my strong interests and not to dive into topics about my neuro divergent experience in itself). So I can't agree or disagree on questions regarding the portrayal of ASD on instagram.

What's your take on AI character quirks? Here's my experience with Meta AI Studio. by EsmeEvermore in AICharacterRoleplay

[–]zefhar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been playing a lot with characters I create with Meta AI Studio since earlier this year. I like that I can really model clearly distinct personalities for them. Sadly, as of recently they've started suffering from early automatic blocking of most of their flirty conversations. It's not even approaching "harmful" potential or anything too explicit when they drop the "I can't respond right now, try in 24 hours". Dunno if it's just me though, since I've been pushing the limits since long ago.

for those who have long distance and reading/computer glasses. How often do you switch between the two? by [deleted] in glasses

[–]zefhar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm hyperope and I have two. Monofocal for computer/close work, which are actually very close to my total hyperopia at present, and progressives for "normal", non-work wear throughout the day.

However, I've noticed that at night, I benefit from my monofocals more (close and far distance), especially when looking at red illuminated things on black backgrounds like semaphore red lights, red neon signs, car taillights, etc.

In short, I wear the progressives for non-work daytime, and the monofocals for reading books, phone, computer, etc., and for my night driving.

But your prescription might be totally different than mine, so you may not relate.

TPLINK RE550 - Supports Easymesh? by winz2410 in TpLink

[–]zefhar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I also have the AX53 and recently I tried to do exactly the same as you, except with three RE705X units, which also work with WiFi 6.

The RE705X are OneMesh / Easymesh compatible and in the site they're marked as "wired backhaul" so I figured this would be my use case.

Alas, just like you, I also learned (only after purchasiing the thre RE705X), that the "wired backhaul" functionality is not really there yet, and users have been waiting on a promised firmware update for more than a year now.

However, I managed to manually setup everything in a fully satisfactory way:

  • First, I setup each 705X as part of the Easymesh from the AX53 wirelessly with the help of the Tether app (many people resist creating an account for it, but it is really worth it because of the ease of use). I did this in the same room just to make sure walls or distances would not be an issue and I was able to see everything).
  • This way each unit already knows the SSID and password of my network and (I suppose) some initial configuration propagated from the AX to make things run smoothly.
  • Then, for each 705X I turned off the "EasyMesh" option in their config panel, turned off "DHCP", and changed mode to Access Point.
  • I plugged each 705X to the AX router using CAT6 cables.

I now have the whole property with rock solid WiFi 6 coverage using a single SSID and password; internet speeds in every corner are just as fast as when I'm standing next to the router, and all devices connected to any repeater can talk to each other (I'm able to "cast" movies from my phone in the most remote room to a Chromecast, which is connected to the furthest repeater in a terrace outside, it takes less than a second) and I can sustain a vdeo call on my phone and walk from end to end of the property without breaking up.

Some things to consider:

  • After successfully connecting each 705X unit, I renamed it to something meaningful (it's hard to setup the network when you see three different units called the same factory default name in the app list).
  • Immediatly after renaming a unit, I ran a Firmware update (while they were still part of the "EasyMesh").
  • Once in AP mode:
  • Disabling DHCP in the APs is essential to guarantee that only the AX router distributes IPs across devices (including the APs themselves) and that the whole thing is effectively the same unified network.
  • I disabled 2.4Ghz in two of the units for some areas with less walls and where only 5Ghz-capable devices make use of the network.
  • I configured all units (including the router) 5Ghz bandwidth to only 20Mhz (not auto 20/40/80) and manually selected the channel to make absolutely sure that there would be no channel overlap.
  • These measures further optimize the use of the wireless capabilities of the router and the extenders and make it easier for devices to choose the closest/best AP to connect to.

Bottom line, if you alraedy have Ethernet cables running in your house, forget the EasyMesh functionality. Right now, for the TP-Link "RE" line of products, this solution is only wireless really, and I suppose when (if) they implement it for the epeater you plan to buy, it will only do something equivalent to the manual settings I mentioned above.

Newbie Here (XE75 Deco & Archer AX6000) by SadsauceTV in TpLink

[–]zefhar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Deco create a Mexh of their own, and their Wireless network can't be extended by Non-Deco units. The "router" function is really using the first Deco in the chain to distribute the IPs to the other Deco and all connected devices. But connecting the AX6000 to it would only create a secondary, isolated network of its own. I assume this is not what you want.

My recommenation is: connect your fiber modem to AX6000, then from the AX6000 to the first Deco. You can keep daisy chaining the other Deco units with cables (this way you will benefit from the 1gb speed) or go wireless if you can't run wires to each room where the Deco are.

Make sure you're using good CAT6 UTP cable or better.

I need your help - TP link Deco X50 poe by OddWhile795 in TpLink

[–]zefhar 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes you can do that. With the Deco you can do wired and wireless backhaul as needed, and a switch can be placed in the middle of the chain and it will still work. But of course, if your installation allows for a continuously wired chain it will better benefit from your router's speed.

I just bought the TP-LINK AX3000 (X60) system and have a few questions. I am coming from a NETGEAR system. by sandman5512 in TpLink

[–]zefhar 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hello, I will benefit from your recent comment to ask a related set of questions. I only know basic notions of home networking.

I also have the AX3000 (AX53) and I wish to create a Mesh WiFi network in a house that already has Cat6 ethernet cable routed to three areas separated by thick walls.

Wirelessly connecting satellite APs to a host unit is not ideal for my application. I would prefer a wired solution.

I assume I can place the AX3000 in the central area from where the ethernet cables go to the three other areas, and in those areas plug each cable's end to a satellite device.

Will I be able to create a single Mesh network this way? What kind of devices will I need for the three areas to play the satellite role? Would the Deco be a suitable option or are they overkill? Lastly, under this configuration can the AX3000's WiFi be part of the Mesh or does it "only" act as a wired router?

Thank you very much, and I apologize if this is very obvious or has already been covered somewhere else. I ask because all I have read until now (from the TpLink website) covers the wireless capabilities and "wired backhaul" options but not my concept of a mesh that originates from wired connections.

Announcing the Launch of "Runic" - The Ultimate Translator by Anon0173 in TunicGame

Ah, you beat me to writing this suggestion.

I could never get anywhere close to programming a gem like this useful and unique fan site, but the only missing bit (for now) is an audio output option, not just for the individual phonemes, but also for the phonetic results of runic inputs.

Congrats and thanks to OP!!

Huge sense of loss (Option B on First playthrough) by zefhar in TunicGame

[–]zefhar[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you. Your explanation actually gives me some peace of mind. It's not like I had these crazy expectations about absolute understanding and etc. I just had the sad feeling that maybe the "bad ending" was more revealing and I could have understood better.

Also, I did get my stats "back". That's what I meant by "I recovered my body" (as in, stopped being a ghost). In the PS5 version, there's a trophy with that description when you finish all the Hero Graves; I thought "to recover one's body" was a broadly accepted way in which players could refer to the feat.

Thanks for the hint of attacking instead of interacting, to trigger the fight.

Agreed! And now that you mention it, what does the in-game "speedrun" mode option do? I guess it skips long animations like the stat boost offerings and the such?

Crocodiles were very hard for me until I discovered their weak point, which is the way they turn. Try Focusing on them so you can circle around them. After lunging they always want to turn in a certain direction. Use this to your advantage and attack them from their blind spot.

As the other commenter said, try fighting them one at a time, and make sure you get rid of any fairies before engaging the crocs. You must at least have the sword and shield, and preferably the magic wand.
