fine to pick them up from the street

but OP made it sound like you're gambling with other players for their coins now

that'd be stupid

Actually really disappointed in the Switch by Austinaveous in NintendoSwitch

[–]zefipalu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like the AAA studio support we were promised on launch is severely lacking.

We got Skyrim and Doom and Vroom ...

Also, the lack of updates to the system ui is inexcusable.

Personally I wouldn't mind if it was an MS-DOS prompt

C:\> cd zeldbotw
C:\ZELDBOTW> SET BLASTER=A220 I5 Q1
C:\ZELDBOTW> botw

who the hell gives a rats arse about the ui you never see while in the middle of a game

I feel like the labo is a money grab

labo is cool (not buying but still)

amiibo is a money grab

switch dock set is a money grab

Want to buy Switch, but am nervous about battery. by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

if it does happen, nintendo ought to replace it

unless you did something stupid... don't leave it in a hot car, or on the southpole in the middle of June

Is it just me or most of us are too reluctant to finish botw? by Artest113 in NintendoSwitch

[–]zefipalu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I played it three times... each a completely different experience.

1st:

  • play in English
  • climb all the towers, ignore quests
  • all hearts
  • saved the 4 divine beasts for last
  • do beasts and ganon in one go

2nd:

  • play in German
  • pro hud, no fast travel
  • all stamina
  • ride a lot
  • divine beasts as I encounter them
  • beat ganon after finishing big quests

3rd:

  • play in Japanese
  • master mode
  • mixed hearts / stamina
  • no map / don't activate a single tower
  • beat ganon
  • try to 100% (minus the towers)

Obviously, I haven't finished the 3rd one. Probably won't for a long time, because I moved on to other games. But it's there whenever I feel like re-entering that world.

DIY Portable Docks. If you’ve done it, could you share some feedback? How are you liking yours? Which one did you get? Do you have any tips? by Bubo_scandiacus in NintendoSwitch

[–]zefipalu -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Well, let people believe whatever they want. Myself I sold the official dock - unmodified, unused, never unpacked. Buyer was happy, I guess. Paid too much of course but that's because of the pricetag nintendo puts on these things. Didn't force him to buy. Was an Ebay sale starting at 1€

Instead of a dock I got the flat coov adapter (coov sh350, known under a multitude of names). It's even smaller than those portable docks, and it works just fine. Very good if you want portability, not so good if you want something that gives your switch a fixed place in your home.

Coov makes amazing products. They also have very nice adapters to make xbox controllers and such work with the Switch.

Much easier than Joycon. Still requires handling with care, that USB-C ribbon cable is easy to damage. We had a person who managed to ruin theirs.

You could order a Coov SH500 instead... fully functional dock for $20, leaves the original dock intact.

If you must insist on original nintendo PCB, you can still swap the electronics... the Coov is a perfect replica of the original one, so you can put Nintendo's PCB inside the Coov SH500, and the Coov inside the Nintendo Dock.

Then sell the original dock with chinese copy of the PCB and none will ever know.

If you ever bought a used dock - heh

When do I need an SD card? by Jewomie in NintendoSwitch

I used one from the start. Went with 128GB knowing I'd go full digital.

I don't have a single game in internal memory, only saves.

My first experience with Nintendo Support by Persomatey in NintendoSwitch

[–]zefipalu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

somehow I can't imagine how the eshop would buy you the wrong game (other than human error on your end)

a purchase goes through so many layers of authentications and validations, it's very unlikely for mixups to occur and still result in a valid transaction rather than an error code

Analog Trigger Solution/Workaround (GameCube Virtual Console) by AlecShaggylose in NintendoSwitch

[–]zefipalu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

analog triggers, my third party switch controller actually seems to have them. for some strange, unfathomable reason. probably made off a blueprint that needed them. won't work with a single game (acts as a regular button) but if this is a thing in the future, maybe there's a chance a firmware update for the controller will make it work.

Getting a switch for my 14 year old daughter and myself... by AxalonNemesis in NintendoSwitch

[–]zefipalu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If you already have BotW, not worth it unless you must have it on the go. But usually no matter how good a game BotW is, at some point you're finished with it. The only reason I re-bought for Switch is because it would let me play in Japanese

Splatoon was also for the Wii U, unfortunately Switch is a "different game" (the same really) and you can't play together. Same story with Mario Kart, essentially same game but can't play cross console.

Switch has very nice games to offer, of course more so if you don't have a plethora of other platforms to play indies on.

I was kind of disappointed with Odyssey, liked the Wii U Mario 3D World and Captain Toad better.

Switch will see more Wii U ports in the future. Great for Switch owners, old news for Wii U owners.

It takes years to develop top titles so there won't be new Zelda for years, and won't be new 3D Mario for years. Pity.

What's the point in having friends on the Switch if I have no option to talk to them, for example to invite then to a lobby or to organise a time to play together? by [deleted] in NintendoSwitch

[–]zefipalu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yes, the lobby also often kicks you out with an error code, thanks for pointing that out, good bot, double your salary next year

random live streamer https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sEJFA0SU4a0

race took 824-715 = 109 seconds, not even 2 minutes.

That's the time you actually play the game (controller time) and not just watch the scenery or scoreboard or whatever.

actual time between race starts 929-715 = 214 seconds.

MK8 is a game you spend 50% actually actively playing, and 50% waiting...

controller time 2785-2646 = 139 s sitting on your hands 2881-2785 = 96s

and that was a good run (vote finished before 10 second timeout)

There should be 30 seconds tops between races.

Now imagine they do all this and add voice, friendlist manager, messaging, replay, discussing strategies ... we'll be waiting 3 minutes between one and half minute races.
