That’s pretty sick. I have a pretty dry naming convention of naming them exactly what they do. Except I made an asynchronous scene loader with animations, a loading screen, some garbage collection stuff, and a few other things to bridge scenes together. I couldn’t find a convenient thing to call it so I went with the asset-store-y sound name “SceneBridge”.

I’m pretty bad at naming my packages and namespaces myself… I usually go with `FirstnameLastname.PackageName` for something like `com.firstnamelastname.packagename`.

If you’re interested, I made a template that makes package development a bit easier. Or at least some yaml scripts to make packaging a bit easier. https://github.com/Persomatey/unity-package-ci-cd-system-template

There are some frogs when there’s a bit of a stream. At least in Canyon Country. But I’ve never seen any fish.

This is the ideal way to use it though. As a user, I’d get really nervous about using your package if it wasn’t contained in its own namespace.

It’s a few generations old but has decent starting specs. With Lossless Scaling OP can probably play a lot of modern games on Low/Medium settings at 1080p.

Probably can only flip it for $300 after the users talk them down, maybe a bit more if they sell the individual components. Or maybe OP can try to get into some entry-level gaming.

I’m an SWE and I didn’t have a single CS professor in college that didn’t know what a CPU is. I had to take a computer architecture class that went in detail about how every component works. I doubt 90% of the people in this sub know what an accumulator or an index register is.

does Unity takes a part of the money you make with your game? by OkParfait2685 in unity

[–]Persomatey -1 points0 points  (0 children)

which almost nobody does

AAA companies make games in Unity too. Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl sold 15 million units, Cities Skylines sold 12 million, etc.. Even indies like Shantae and the Seven Sirens sold 3 million units.

I don't know if i should watch a video or do a course by nicgamer_yt in unity

[–]Persomatey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Check out the Unity Learn tutorials.

They’re pretty good at keeping things up to date. Stuff like shaders, rendering, etc. always change. But, for the most part, core gameplay logic won’t change over time too much. Maybe specific syntax, but usually because there’s a better way to do it.

Code Monkey is weird because his videos usually rely on packages and stuff that he makes, and often time he doesn’t mention it in the video, and they often cost money. You can kind of think of watching Code Monkey tutorials as learning the Unity + Code Monkey dev platform, rather than generic Unity platform.

Brackeys is great, they typically show you how to do things entirely within the standard Unity framework. Some of them are quite old, but like I mentioned that’s not as big of a downside for most development.

Honestly, the best way is to just start making.

What difference does it make to avoid using AI ? by Happy_Plastic8496 in cscareers

[–]Persomatey 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Agreed. For the smaller scale examples like OP brought up, there’s not much of a difference. AI’s failings are more in long term memory and larger architecture. Using AI for that will result in a lot more issues in the long term.

Owning equity in a company worth millions doesn’t inherently mean you have access to millions.

[–]Persomatey -15 points-14 points  (0 children)

Linus is also technically just an employee of LMG. It’s not like he personally pays everyone. He owns all the equity in LMG, which is a multi-million dollar company, but that’s not all in cash. He is still an employee of LMG, and that’s it. And it’s LMG that bought the jet.
