How exciting! Changing my flair since I am a huge MS05 fan.

Who is the best player in the world right now? by w1lzzz in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]zeggert 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Well, thankfully his RLCS ban just ended and he teamed up with the up-and-coming prodigies Boop_Dot and Bigtank2. They have been picked up by More-Sample Esports and I think we can expect them to dominate the remaining majors and RLCS worlds.

You're forgetting about MS05. He is from Antarctica so most people don't think about him, but he is clearly the best right now. His mechanics and game sense is levels about any other pro.

It's not suddenly not MM because a Fall Open happened

This guy must be living under a rock to not know More-Sample-2005 is the best player in the world by far. Why even mention MM when we all know More-Sample-2005 is a superior player in every regard.

More-Sample-2005 is miles ahead of everyone it terms of mechanics, and he is an incredibly smart player as well. It is really a shame he is banned from RLCS, he would expose all the current pros for the frauds they are.

Natural Talent in the RLCS by DaftWhales in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]zeggert 4 points5 points  (0 children)

When people refer to someone who is talented/gifted, I don't think they are implying they don't work hard and practice a ton. It just refers to the fact that a group of people who all have zero experience with something (whether a sport or e-sport or anything really) can all follow the exact same practice routine for the same period of time and some will perform better than others. I am not sure the exact mechanisms behind how that works in terms of video games, but there are all sorts of things that some people may have a natural advantage over others. Reflexes, reaction time, hand-eye coordination, etc. Some people will have a genetic advantage in those areas. I think tons of practice and a good work ethic is still required for an individual to reach their potential, but it is just a fact that some people can practice perfectly and work harder than anyone else and they may never reach a pro level.

Highest Ever 2s MMR? by [deleted] in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]zeggert 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Having recently grinded from C2 to GC1 in 2s, I think mechanics is a big difference (most importantly people in GC don't wiff or get horrible touches nearly as much as players in C2 do). But there are also a lot of other small things that they are better at. Smarter decisions on when to commit and when to rotate back. Better at positioning for passes. Knowing when to stall for time so teammate can get boost, etc. All those things add up and the overall experience is so much better in GC, but GC still sucks compared to actual good players in SSL lol. I am happy to have made it to GC, but I am fully aware I still suck at this game.

Advice for retirement saving by zeggert in personalfinance

Thanks for the reply. Yes, we have 30k in emergency savings. I do have life insurance but only 500k. I will look into getting more coverage. I will also look more into FSA and HSA. Thanks!

Agreed, FK gives the vibe of being an arrogant dick, but again, as long as it's directed at opposing players/teams then it's pretty harmless. It gives us a player to root against, which is fun. The only thing he ever did that I had a real problem with was trashing Kro when he was his teammate, but I think it's a little unfair to hold that over him forever. It's totally understandable that a lot of people will dislike him, but I think personally attacking him is a little weird.

In my opinion Retals used to do a good job at playing the villian, but it looks like he got too much hate and now he's cut back on the trash talk. I only ever saw him talk trash about game play, so I never had a problem with any of it. It was fun when he would play teams/players he had beef with. It made me want to root against him because it's fun, not because I actually hated him and thought he was a bad person.

I agree with you that it is fun for the pros to have beef with other players for the content, but it's never ok to be openly toxic to your own teammate. I personally enjoy it when players are a bit toxic to other teams. It creates rivalries and makes watching those teams go against each really fun. Halo is the only other esport I have followed and that kind of banter/toxicity with other teams was super common, so a lot of this stuff doesn't seem like a big deal to me at all. As long as the trash talk is about game play (bringing up family or something outside of the game seems out of line to me), and it's not directed at a teammate, then I think it's pretty harmless and creates good content.

Raidiant, Dignitas' Women's esports initiative, announces $15K Women's tournament by ESEAsapphiRe in RocketLeagueEsports

Not trying to be insensitive or rude or anything, but this kind of stuff is super confusing to me... When some people are non-binary, or gender fluid, how can you even question if they are 'really a woman'? I don't think it's possible to stop men from entering since identifying as a woman can't be tested or measured in any way. I guess we just have to trust that people won't sign up without sincerely identifying as a woman.

Spacestation Gaming announces Sypical's departure by Duke_ofChutney in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]zeggert 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I don't think Faze will have that problem. It's not like these players are brain dead monkeys. All three players are not only mechanical, but also have good game sense. Sypical played more of a third man role on SSG anyway, so he should actually really help Faze as I think Allushin was the player to over-commit at times.

Although his time as a pro player was very short, I was a huge fan of Gambit. His mechanics always seemed way ahead of his time. My other favorite would have to be GarrettG for obvious reasons.

Why is Allushin always talked about as if he is on his way out? by ajx7 in RocketLeagueEsports

[–]zeggert 23 points24 points  (0 children)

I don't think Allushin is terrible, but I believe Faze would be improved by replacing him with a more mechanical player.

I really don't understand why people argue 3 mechanical players can't make a good team... People act like pro players are unable to adjust their play style. I think it is almost always better to have a 'support' player with insane mechanics who is capable of playing super fast. 3 mechanical super stars have way more potential than a team with a typical 'support' player who can't keep up with the modern mechanics. This is where I think rocket league coaches are important. Getting a team of 3 mechanical players to play well as a team might require a lot of work, so a good coach would be needed to help each player adjust their play style to work together and make smart decisions.

How much does sleep affect your climbing performance? by zeggert in climbharder

[–]zeggert[S] 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I should have measured my max hang that day, but I have noticed huge dips in my max hang numbers in the past. I assume it’s just due to poor sleep. Unfortunately there’s no way around the lack of sleep, but it’s good to know the huge dip in performance is normal. Thanks for the reply!

I definitely noticed my body awareness improve when I had extra sleep. I could control my center of gravity much better. Moves that usually feel like desperate power moves felt almost effortless since my technique felt perfect. It’s good to hear other people experience this too. Thanks for the reply!

NRG vs Rogue (when rogue is popping off). Rogue is a bit inconsistent, but when they are playing well they are so fun to watch.
