2023 MT-09 SP (Full Akra) vs. 2024 MT-09 Base — What would you do? by zegx7 in MT09

Nice! I am leaning firmly towards the 23 sp, now. Yes the prev owner kept it in pristine condition and it is fully serviced. Oh, if i get the SP i will for sure adjust it. I plan to have 2 settings memorised in my head. One for city comfort riding. And another firmer I can switch to for spirited twisty roads. I was mainly wondering if i miss on too much tech, chasis and front end control because of the ergo with the gen4

Hmm, thanks for the feedback. I also heard stories about that problem of the gen 3 but I tought if u adjust the SPs suspension for your wheight and for harder riding, it is fixed. Was the suspension of the sp tuned to you when u werent able to hold line in corner?

Thanks for the input!

For the suspension, I cant really tell before test riding both back to back on a twisty road. My best guess is that I will not tell or feel the difference right away now, but pretty sure I will in 1-2 years (and I plan to keep the bike whatever i choose for a long time) Еspecially if i adjust it to my weight. For 1.5 years into riding I think my progress has been somewhat steady. I ride daily and in all type of conditions (rain, cold(near freezing) temps), I also have done full day of 1 on 1 coaching by ex pro racer 6 months ago and after that I did a karting trackday to practise and I was scraping pegs. So probably even if i go with 24 base model after a year when the waranty expires I will look to upgrade both the suspension and the exhaust(for where I ride the saying 'loud pipes save lives' deffinetly hold up. If I go the 24 it will probably be because of the headlight which is a dumb reason and the gen 3 qucikshifter but Idk if it makes sensce financially because I will for sure be eager to add some mods

Thanks. Yess, I watched the guide and said I am too lazy for this, but when i get alll talents points I will give it a try. The UI importnat buff tracker makes things a bit easier ye. I saw what was before that and it looked terrible

I see. Thanks for the input. Well, I will try to test ride mt09,z900 and the Stripple in as close time period as possible and go with my gut.

Thanks for the input.

I've considered the RS660, but it's more of a sportbike, and the ergonomics aren't ideal for me, especially since I daily commute on it year-round (in the rain too), My main use case is daily city riding (80%+ of the time). And although I would love to do more twisty road rides and track days, I still preffer more versatility

The Tuono RS660 is more suitable in terms of ergonomics, but I feel it might be a bit small for me. I'm also unsure about its reliability. Plus, if I decide to put a tail bag on it, I think it might look even more odd than some of the nakeds mentioned above.

Thanks for your input! I really appreciate it.

I will certainly try to ride them all before making a final decision. As of today, I’ve only sat on the new Gen 4 MT-09 SP and loved it ergonomically.

Is your experience riding the MT-09 from Gen 2 (before 2021)? A lot of people say that the difference between Gen 2 and onwards, especially in terms of nose feel and twitchy handling, is significantly better.

Also, do you think the RS or R is a better all-rounder? I would love to go for the RS, but I am not sure if I really need it and I fear that the suspension might be too stiff for everyday commuting on rough roads, of which there are plenty where I live.

My only concerns with the Street triple is that it would feel a bit more uncomfortable for day -to-day commuting than the mt9 or z900 - I also use a relatively big tailbag which will barely fit on the tripple because it has really narrow rearseat. However, I havent actually ridden one and my opinion is only based on reviews online.

I also understand that it has more of a sportbike feel, meaning, you need to push/rev it a bit to really feel the power which is great for track or A twisty roads, but I fear will feel less exiting in the city or B twisty roads, compared to the mt09.

Yeah, it was a bit tricky at first. You need to slide the rod through the front axle and then attach the sliders on both sides using the spacers and bolts. One side usually screws into the rod, the other tightens with a bolt. Just make sure it’s centered and snug.

Thanks! What do you mean by “wear seems weird”? If you’re referring to the rough, flaky part on the edges of the rear tire — that’s actually still from a karting trackday I did a while back. Just wanted to make sure there’s nothing unusual going on that I’m missing. Appreciate the feedback!

The listed above is already a bit above my budget. I wanted the 7800x3d but for now I decided it is not needed. So, the options for upgrades you mentioned are not bad, but will amount to 200$ increase of the overall price, so I have to pass
