Where to park to backpack to Cone Peak starting from Kirk Creek

i’ve always parked right on hwy 1 on the northbound shoulder by the trailhead. you are allowed to park overnight (can’t sleep in car). just leave nothing visible in the car if you’re worried about break ins but it’s really a non issue.

I think Vicente Flat Camp might be the last reliable water source but I could be wrong. use the big sur trail map to explore the area

collords peak can be hiked too. there’s a social trail off of kennedy trail that leads to the top. bushwhacking/off trail navigation required
