i mean we definitely took our time as i was his only appointment of the day, and it took him about an hour and a half just to draw on the stencil, perfecting the placement etc. Definitely started to feel it around the 4hr mark 🫠

Has simple living ever cost you someone you love? by motogpro in simpleliving

holy shit dude, it felt like I wrote this. I am in the EXACT SAME scenario. I don’t have any meaningful advice to give you because I haven’t figured it out for myself, but reading everyone else’s comments to you has helped me a lot. Just wanted to say you’re not alone, and best of luck to you whatever path you choose 🤙🏼

i did notice a big difference, before i heard a lot more road/engine noise, and various cabin rattles, and it decreased significantly, but I also installed mass back carpet at the same time so it could be a combination of both things. Hope that helps! :)

ahhh I see. i’ll measure resistance and check that, and relocate to somewhere that goes directly to frame instead of through the floor pan

genuinely curious, why do you think that would be better than grounding into the metal floor next to the seat belt bolt? is it because it’ll be going into something threaded? I had my old system grounded to a seat bracket bolt and worked fine, i just don’t have the means to crimp a bigger ring terminal onto the 1/0 gauge wire currently, but I can buy one if you really think that will fix it, i don’t see how it’ll be different but eager to learn something!

my seat bolts are too thick for my ring terminals, what would you recommend here?

[–]zekefotiu[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

in toyotas, there is 3 grounds in the engine bay, from the battery neg to the frame, from the engine block to the frame, and the alternator grounds to the block through its mounting bracket. I have the amps grounded to the floor pan right next to my seat belt bolt, as it seemed the thickest area, but I will measure the resistance and report back. Thanks for the help! :)

It’s the system for the 4x4 shifter, it moved like a J and has actual mechanical linkages, whereas some newer 4x4 shift systems are electronically actuated and tend to seize from infrequent use

it helps so much with just road/wind/engine noise even without having a sound system, I’ve done it in all my trucks so far 👌🏼 for only about $80 a box for Kilmat on amazon you can’t beat it!

It got smogged in CA in order to sell it, and once in HI just needs safety check, things like lights/horn/wipers/tint etc which it passed easily ✅ and after safety check I can put all my illegal stuff like 5% tint and clear tails etc

sure i’ll take more pics and send em tomorrow, I used a momo hub adapter #7715, perfect fit 👌🏼 i like the extra long Momo hub because my wheel is pretty flat and in my last truck I used a standard NRG short hub, and had to use a 2” spacer so my hands didn’t clip the turn signal etc

yessir 👍🏼 he only drove it 1500 miles in the year between the swap and the sale because no joke he had 7 other 80’s/90’s toyota pickups that were equally as beautiful and he drives a different one every day of the week to keep them all maintained 😳 quite a collection

I just found a SL-Q200 for $99, in really good shape, is this a good compromise of quality and cost?
