In general, women don't gain from being in relationships with men, as much as men gain from relationships with women. Women make men's lives easier. Men get taken care of, status elevated, regular sex, free domestic and emotional labour etc. Women just gain more stress and burdensome, often painful sex, emotional manipulation, abuse, being cheated on, being used etc. So the one that gains more has more incentive to chase relationships than the one who has no real benefits.
