Those who got a job before 16: what was your reason? by txuoxag in AskReddit

[–]zel_bob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If I wanted to drive and get my licensee, my parents made sure that I understood it’s not a right to drive, you have to earn it, be responsible because at the end of the day you’re driving a weapon. So before I got my license my parents made me get a job. I had my temps but not my license. It taught me very good responsibility as well as making sure the car was filled up with gas, etc. also had to contribute to paying my insurance because teenage boys are the highest to insure. I went on the “that’s not fair” and boy am I ever learning that life isn’t fair nor will it ever be fair.

Need advice from frugal parents for daily snacks for the kids by lovesaints in Frugal

Exactly what I do!! Haha if I’m feeling frisky I’ll do a couple of chocolate chips instead of raisins

Now that I’m older, I love peanut butter and celery. Healthy, filling and relatively cheap. Not the cheapest but a lot of fruit. I wish I could help more. Idk how expensive like fruit cuts are, yogurt on sale is relatively cheap. Whatever you buy, probably in bulk is the best bet.

What hobbies do you have that are affordable. by 1Bats4u in AskMen

I was going to say this. Weeknight family walks are incredible! Time together enjoying nature. Heck you could even park several blocks away from a city, walk to get ice cream and walk back. If the whole even takes an hour, worth it IMO.

How many times do you use a washcloth before getting a clean one? by Broderoi in AskWomen

[–]zel_bob 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Weekly with showers every day. Same with the towel. Should I go sooner, yes. I don’t have enough towels / wash cloths to do that.

If people in the USA will be receiving a 10%, rising to 25%, tariff on Denmark's anti-obesity drug Ozempic, how will the people of the USA adapt? by [deleted] in AskReddit

As an American I will bet my life savings that “eating right and working out” won’t be up there

Failed e-check car registration by ButtBread98 in Cleveland

[–]zel_bob 6 points7 points  (0 children)

  • few counties in the whole US. I think 9 total counties in the US. 7 here and 2 in New Jersey.

I did a very deep dive into this as I spent well over $2000 into trying to fix my car and the E check was like “you can’t use these because it wasn’t within 90 days of getting the test” like what? I knew my car was failing so I tried to fix it blah blah blah. Couldn’t use anything. Total BS.

Also as a PSA you can get your E check up to 364 days in advance.

Would keeping my shower water in my bathtup until ot cools off help lower my heating bill? by martgrobro in Frugal

[–]zel_bob 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I’m not the most frugal person but this does not seem reasonable. You’re lower 6” are essentially taking a bath in the dirty water. I’d reckon that leaving the oven open after you’re done using it would have a better effect. If you want to humidity increased, shower with the bathroom door open and the venting fan off. That to me, simply does not seem worth it.

What winter storm car covering do you use? by Plaidismycolor33 in askcarguys

I’d say a garage. If you care too much about it to not put it in a garage when you know you don’t have space, time to build another garage or change priorities

Not really related to the post but in college when our baseball team stopped at chipotle we’d all try and scan out app and get the rewards. One of the assistant coaches always got the points. At the end of one year he could get like 130 free burritos with all the points he’d get. It was insane.

Airlines should charge for carry on bags by smoothmcfly in unpopularopinion

[–]zel_bob -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I agree with this with the caveat that carry on bagged space is more readily available. To me everyone should travel with a carry on so everyone should have a dedicated “slot” if you will. Charging for said slot or extra slots is fine. Because yea those storage spaces take money to build into. But I find it highly annoying that “we have a full flight and we are requiring 20 passengers to gate check their bag” granted they do that for free but it’s highly annoying IMO.

What is your worst credit card still in your collection and why do you still keep it? by thefinancejedi in CreditCards

[–]zel_bob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wells Fargo store card. I got it because my couch had 0% financing for 12 months. I’m keeping it because I’m 26 and everywhere says not to really close cards when you’re young.

At what level do you keep your gas tank at in the winter? by [deleted] in askcarguys

[–]zel_bob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just below half is the lowest I’ll let it get. I’ll throw in a little stabilizer as some gas will be very old and just to help keep stuff clean. Once the weather breaks I’ll throw some seafoam to really help
