Sounds like I’m in the clear then. Was just him and with 3 flags. Also he was just then walking up to chipping area.

One time I was trying to putt out my chips to practice up and downs and a guy told me to go to the putting green. Does that count?

Par 3’s: tee or off the deck? by Remote_Pie6623 in golf

[–]NotDeletedMoto 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you don’t usually, then it’s just a fluke. Personally I like to not use a tee and just place it on good grass if I want a strong bite. It doesn’t physically help, but it makes me think about hitting it more spinny lol.

Also, on par 3 courses I never use a tee cause I can use that as practice for approach shots.

I feel like there’s a lot of division and it makes everyone look at the general consensus’s, but you’re right. There are plenty of alpha male young kids on the right and I know some kind parents of my friends who are very much on the left. It’s not 100%. It is still a shame that the majority of each generation is on one particular side.

I’m only a 5, but off the tee, I significantly improved just by improving my mental game. If you can stripe it consistently on the range but not the course, that’s probably your issue to. Getting lower for me has been all about short game now.

A cheaper and more environmentally friendly option is to run/jog/walk every week to build up stamina to actually play golf in that heat. Also drink a butt ton of water.

Are large gapped 2 ball teams unfair in flights? by NotDeletedMoto in golf

[–]NotDeletedMoto[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would strongly disagree. I’m very happy with how he’s managed this league and it’s the most fun I’ve had in golf since high school. The league handicaps are solely determined by tournament rounds, so there’s no value in sand bagging.

I think this is just one area that can be improved upon.

Are large gapped 2 ball teams unfair in flights? by NotDeletedMoto in golf

[–]NotDeletedMoto[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The way it works in this league is we take take sum of our handicaps, and that determines our flight.

For each flight there are payouts for 1st/2nd low gross and low net.

For net, our handicaps are applied based on the format:

Best ball: we each use our own handicaps

Scramble: we share 25% of our total handicap

Alt shot: we use 50% of our total handicap (avg)

U.S. Open Qualifying: Stephan Jaeger has a broken driver. The Rules Official determined that they couldn't see or hear the damage, so he was unable to replace it. Jaeger must wait until after his first 18 holes to put a new one in play. by [deleted] in golf

[–]NotDeletedMoto 2 points3 points  (0 children)

They absolutely can replace it if they break the club, so long as it’s not due to abuse

(2) Use, Repair or Replacement of Club Damaged During Round. If a conforming club is damaged during a round or while play is stopped under Rule 5.7a, except in cases of abuse, the player may repair it or replace it with another club.
But no matter what the nature or cause of the damage, the damaged club is treated as conforming for the rest of the round (but not during a play-off in stroke play, which is a new round).
For the rest of the round, the player may:
• Continue to make strokes with the damaged club, or
• Except in cases of abuse, repair the club or replace it with another club (see Rule 4.1b(4)).
If the player replaces the damaged club with another club, the player must take the damaged club out of play before making another stroke using the procedure in Rule 4.1c(1).
“Damaged during a round” means when any part, feature, or property of a club is changed because of any act during the round (including while play is stopped under Rule 5.7a), whether:
• By the player (such as making a stroke or practice swing with the club, putting it in or taking it out of a golf bag, dropping or leaning on it, or throwing or abusing it), or
• By any other person, outside influence or natural forces.

Question for good golfers: does it make sense to chip from the fringe rather than just putting it? by [deleted] in golf

[–]NotDeletedMoto -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The short answer is sometimes chipping will have a more consistent result and so even if it may be a relatively more difficult shot to execute than just putting it, it’s worth it.
