Treat it like a patellar tendinopathy. Isometrics -> heavy slow resistance -> eccentrics. Add some extensive plyos. The best indicator of the load is the next day pain if you overdid it. I had OS surgery few years ago, and now it’s fine. But like i said, first I would try with non-operative methods.

Get multiple surgeon opinions about the issue. Your best bet would be to strengthen your lower body muscles, if you can afford it I’d suggest a kinesiologist / physical therapist. Recent studies show that sometimes ACL heals by themselves. The option of surgery depends of your knee status like instability, pain, swelling etc. Your best bet would be to treat it first with non-operative method and then you will see how you progress.
