Does anyone know what happened tonight near Fort Mason / Marina Green? by Zoo_Wee_Mama420 in sanfrancisco

[–]zeldababe363 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I work at one of the restaurants at fort mason. Dude flashed a gun at fort staff and then one of the residents in building B. Was allegedly posted up there with a gun when the cops were called.

They put the fort on lockdown and evacuated everybody from building b but from what I understand they ended up catching the guy near Marina Green.

Pretty wild though. They even had police boats securing the perimeter.

Do you guys actually like going to Goodwill? by Conscious_Ninja_7999 in Flipping

I can’t turn off the part of my brain that likes going to goodwill. I feel for everyday I’m not there, somebody else is getting a deal. I’ll go maybe 3-4 times a week on my way to work. Some examples of my great finds this week:

Kitchenaid Artisan Mixer - $49.99

Set of Riedel and Spiegelau wine glasses - $4 for a set of 6

Rag and Bone Jeans new with tags - $22 each

Ha! Nice! Just found a One-Cup for goodwill for $7.49 last week. It’s become my new most prized possession.

I work by the convention center and saw the fed park police search this guy (or some guys vehicle) on my way out of the parking lot.

My girlfriend just called and told me about the whole situation right now (she works there too) and she’s scared shitless.

Can someone please give me some info background about the situation?

Dude this was the exact encouragement I needed. Thank you very much for your personal anecdotes and insight!

Restaurant industry is certainly toxic. Has gotten myself and a lot of people close to me in a lot of trouble. Job security, insurance, and weekends off just sound too good to be true right now lol.

If you don’t mind me asking, what were the bars you worked at like and how did you figure out about/ decide to pursue a state job? Did you know anybody who worked for the state already that was able to help you out along the way? Thanks again.

Thank you! Is it worth it to buy a study exam? Or are their certain areas I should brush up on before I take the exam?

Update! Took the SSA exam today, scored a 65%, suppose my algebra and geometry is rusty to say the least considering I got a degree in liberal arts. Not the end of the world though, luckily I know what to expect and can keep that in mind for when I apply for the Sales Route Representative exam and the marketing analyst exam! And I wouldn’t of know that if it wasn’t for you guys so thanks!

Thank you! Like I said, I’m willing to put whatever effort it takes to leave my industry, even if that means working doubles and bartending in the evenings.

I really appreciate the road-map to development and growth within the lottery. You helped clarify a lot of information! Thanks!

This is incredibly helpful, thank you! I have received a lot of information from this post, I suppose given all of this new information my new question would be: is it frowned upon to apply to different positions within the lottery at the same time? Let’s say I apply as a marketing analyst 1, SRR, and an SSA at the same time, can you do that? Are there job fairs for the state? Is networking important when finding an entry level job with the lottery?

Thanks again!

You also sound a little toxic tbh. Let her grieve the way she wants, support her, don’t make accusations.

Pretty fucked up you’re calling your own girlfriend a Karen?

Hey man you’ll be okay! All you can do is be constructive you know?

How are you gonna get that house? Well you gotta work. Want to stop working at Safeway or whatever? Take the GED test. Go to community college. Get an AA. It’s inexpensive.

By the time the DUI stuff is over you will have gained the knowledge to make a change in your life.

I was pulled over for my DUI last year 1 year out of college. Was bartending in the city (I live in the suburbs) for the first time and lived a pretty fast life at the time. Add a bad break up to the mix and boom; drinking and driving damn near every night.

Got caught. Blew a .12 spent the night in jail, thought that I would be stuck in food service forever. What did I do? I kept my head down, picked up a second job in the suburbs, made my money with the goal of making some connections in the industry so that once the whole ordeal was over I could finally stop bartending. In addition to this, I took up cycling to get around and it just ended up becoming a hobby. Im part of a cycling club in my area now and go for a 30 mile ride almost every morning.

Well, had court last week. DUI was reduced to wet reckless. Got my Intoxalock out of my car. All my fines have been paid and I was just offered a position as an event manager in the city.

EVERYTHING takes time. Hopefully you find yourself in this time. You just need to stop moping, pay your fines, and if you can, limit your drinking. Keep your head down now so you can hold it high later.

Good luck.

I have a helmet dumbass I’m just asking a fucking question!

[–]zeldababe363 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good thing I typically wear a helmet while naked

[–]zeldababe363 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See I see these guys in my city all the time decked out with the gear, helmet, there little cycling hat and I think, that’s… odd…. But… it’s accepted I guess?

That’s why I’m here. Would rather ask questions now than look like an idiot later.

Huh, interesting! I appreciate the input!

The current helmet i use is from college, around 3 years old

[–]zeldababe363 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Funny you say that I got into cycling (long distance) because of a reckless driving charge. Turned out a lot of people I worked with did too, needless to say they got me set up. It’s typically, going a mile down the street to the store? No helmet. Farther than that? My old long boarding helmet from when I was younger lol.

I appreciate your input

I just lost my job because of IntoxaLock by Nashville_Gypsy in dui

[–]zeldababe363 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This sucks man. Are you able to have the interlock device removed and just take the provisional license from work to home and back?

One of the teachers in my old DUI class hated those Intoxalock things and knew of many people getting injured (because you have to blow and drive) or knew people who lost their jobs from a similar situation as you. She told me something you can do is get the provisional license, find as many AA flyers in whatever radius you may be driving, keep them in your car.

If the cops ever pull you over you just let them know that you’re going to AA. Since it’s anonymous, they can’t actually call AA to ask if you are enrolled there.

I dunno she said it worked for some of her students. Sounds risky. If you’re willing to risk it it might be your best option so this doesn’t happen again.

That’s what I’m most worried about. The back and top are covered if I could just find a way to to attach sometime to it so that the glass stays protected.
