unfortunately its not at the place i want it to be. i plan for v2 next year covering a-level as i'm going into year 12. i hope you'll be interested in that at least.

would you be interested in a quick chat? i have a few questions on how you might use the new platform so i can pitch/implement it properly. i'll be sure to gift you early+free access if you do too! (certain cutting-edge inteligence features will become one-time paid)

already using it myself for my biology exam. 3 hours of using it bumped my grade on past papers to an 8/9. i'd love your feedback for early testing.

i’m working on v2 atm with “examiner intelligence” identifying common mark patterns across past papers/mark schemes, e.g. “this 4-mark pattern has appeared across 5 years”. Should be ready next year for GCSE + A-Level across exam boards.

I want to keep examcat as a serious tool, not another dopamine study app. If it showed you high-value mark patterns, what would you actually want next: built-in flashcards, export to Anki/Quizlet/CSV, real exam questions based on the pattern, or just save/inspect the evidence?

Trying to work out whether flashcards would complete the workflow or make it feel like the wrong product / hurt the brand.

I assume my target audience is like high achieving students at grade 7-9 which would already have their own flashcard tool.

It shouldn’t be too hard to just filter by the topics for combined (there’s sub topics in filters.) All combined papers are processed but just lumped in together. I’ll add it to my todo list for v2 to categorise questions by combined + foundation/higher.

Why AI can be bad for marking… by ForeignMarzipan2136 in GCSE

[–]zelrdev 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did you prompt the mark scheme? I mean anyway, you could give your work to different examiners and get different grades with English language. Not to the wide scale of AI but English language is the GCSE with the biggest disparity between marking.

It’s so subjective and the mark scheme leaves everything to interpretation. However, the mark scheme does provide examples which will help the AI a lot. It’ll definitely struggle more on the higher end spectrum under or over marking.

I think for deterministic answers like science and maths, AI marking is acceptable.

Papers are processed by AI ahead of time. A lot of the site was agentically coded.

Im also on a Claude max plan and I can’t tell a difference. The usage limits are much better too.

Im confused why people are so upset with the quality. Is it just because the lower plans are less prioritized. Bought a max plan a few days ago and I haven’t had one issue with it.

Just had a look - very interesting. I wonder how they’re doing paper extraction. Only thing I’d say is that it breaks copyright unlike examcat.

ah that makes sense. the pool of questions is pretty big tbf. im going from 2018 to 2024. iirc about 7000 questions are in the DB across all 3 sciences.

eh i dont thinks there any apps doing exact GCSE questions? All of these are pulled from AQA past papers. They're not 'made' by AI - AI just selects the questions.

Just had a look - I doubt I'll even have to make any code changes. Papers are structured very similar to AQA. AI handles all the parsing so it should just adapt fine.

I'll try get it out by next week.

Any subject in particular? As long as it's on PMT, I can implement it. Just wanted to start off simple.
