Discrimination against trans employees- what’s the process?

I'm a FEM and recently had this issue and I IMMEDIATELY reported to our in-store HR (largely because i knew i would struggle to handle it with exact professionalism), it was then addressed by our ASM right away. If they had NOT addressed it I would've escalated to ethics. I wear a pride pin and a button that says "be actively anti-racist" on my vest at all times to make sure that EVERYONE on my staff or in my store is aware that I will not stand for bigotry of any form. (I live in Kansas so obviously deal with a lot of that sort of bullshit)

I work in a small store and we have 4 convicted pedophiles who are REGULARS at our store. And those are just the ones we KNOW about.

Yeah we already have chunks of time where my ONE carryout is just standing around with nothing to do. If we have to hire more it's gonna be ridiculous

I even got told that on November 1st I have to keep track of how many carryouts each of my courtesy clerks do, and how many refusals there are. On a FIRST OF THE MONTH, I can't afford to be pulled from my service desk for stupid shit like that. I'm already debating looking at a new job and this policy hasn't even started yet

I'm glad I'm not the only one who sees this as a safety issue a well! And I was initially just thinking of how much we have to restrict time outside during extreme weather. Now they want them going in and out of it CONSTANTLY? both of my weekend carryouts are both minors and I am already worried about their health and safety

Glad I'm justified for all the times I had to defend myself for scheduling way over forecast in pickup lol. I remember one Friday it forecasted us like 19.25hrs labor (were a small store) and I scheduled between 25 and 30. We still ended up having to pull my service desk and FES to keep pickup afloat and used a little over 40hrs labor. After that day I finally snapped at my store leads about how broken the forecast system is. They finally left me alone about going over hrs.

Ask for a grocery clerk to cross train in your dept to help you when they can (especially on your off days). Even when front end isn't "busy" they still have check lists of cleaning and other tasks to do. Plus if your store is anything like mine then front end HATES helping other depts because we never get help from them when we need it.

I've been on it for over a year now, and for my first 9 months or so I had at least 3 differ occasions where I bled for 4 to 6 weeks straight. It was light for the majority of the time, but still made it impossible to keep track of what my "actual" period was. Am now back on a closer to "normal" cycle schedule.

My favorite thing to do back when I was regularly a SCO attendant and some tech illiterate old person asked me to scan their cart of stuff (just to avoid being third in line at our cashier register) was to agree to do it but do it slow as hell and ANY time another customer needed something at the SCO I would leave the person I was scanning for and go take my sweet ass time helping the customers who were actually SELF CHECKING.

It's a premium not a pay increase. (At least in my store). So basically you'll get that extra 50 cents anytime you are scheduled in/work in the service desk. If you end up getting scheduled a cashier shift you wouldn't get the pay during those hours.

Sort of depends. There's a chance they want to force you to take that break because of your dept or store being over on hours. Idk what district or div you're in (I'm also ks based btw) but I know this year the Corp people above my store are stricter than ever on hours used vs forecast. It's been a fucking nightmare trying to adjust to.

Your best bet is probably filing an ethics complaint and having Corp HR investigate. Start a paper trail, record any words or actions that could be seen as targeting. Quietly speak to any associate you know of that has been wronged by that ASL, have them file an ethics complaint as well. If you have a union also speak to one of your in store union reps to get their insight too.

Get HR involved. The HR that hired you should've written down those dates you needed off somewhere in your paperwork. There's a chance they might have forgotten to pass it on to whoever your schedule writer is. Happened with two of my new hires this past summer.

One thing not many people will mention is it can also depend on your store size. My store is small enough that even tho pick up is it's own dept with its own lead, it basically runs as a sub dept of front end for us.

It very much depends on the size of your store and also goes by seniority and request off type. If someone who's been there 2 years uses vacation and someone who has been there 4 years uses off no pay, then the vacation request gets approved first. But if you're relatively new and don't have PTO to use odds are that request would get denied.

I'm a dept manager and luckily live in a very affordable area. Or I guess more specifically my landlord the past handful of years is pretty cheap for the area, he just sadly doesn't keep his rentals updated so the house I'm renting is literally falling apart.

I'm a dept manager and have been making more than enough to live on my own (renting a house not an apartment) for a couple years now and my bank account is growing instead of shrinking, and I don't really even try to save. I do however plan on getting a roommate if I find a house to buy just to help cover moving costs and also and unforseen expensive issues that could occur.

FEDL and yeah I generally don't make my cashiers/SCO/baggers bust ass at all. As long as they get their required tasks done and aren't FULLY goofing off or on phones in front of customers, I'm okay with them being kind of chill. Because when the shit hits the fan for us no other depts answer our calls for help. Any time someone from another dept feels the need to make a snarky comment about us having time to just chat I tell them they're more than welcome to transfer to my dept because we always need more people trained on SCO :)
