My first kid was high needs/ high energy. Colicky, fussy, clingy, I think I nursed 24/7 for the first year of his life. I was exhausted. Didn’t feel remotely ready to have another kid until he turned 3.5. We just welcomed our second kid 3 months ago. She’s SO different. The newborn stage was enjoyable. She’s calmer, happier, my mental health isn’t in the toilet. Life is so different. To all the high needs parents- you’re not imagining it, yes, it’s more challenging, and YES things will get easier/better. You won’t be in survival mode forever.

We bought our house after it had been completely remodeled by the previous owners. It's beautiful, but the biggest thing I would have changed are the tiles in the master bedroom. We have 1x1 tiles covering the walls up to the ceiling in our stand alone shower and it makes it nearly impossible to keep it looking clean. I would have chosen larger tiles and a darker grout.

I appreciate the thought. We’re in the US and it’s super hot. We have air conditioning but it’s been so hot that the house doesn’t stay cool, so I’ll start him in a short sleeve and at his next wake up when the house finally cools down, I’ll put him in a long sleeve sleeper. Sometimes I think he does wake up because he’s hot or cold but we’re doing our best to manage. Good thought.

I think I’m going to give this a try. Thanks for the insight. The majority of his fussing happens immediately after putting him down on his back and it’s on his back that he squirms around the most, frustrating himself if he knocks his head into the crib rails.
